  • I've rewritten his biography, based upon web research, together with liner notes from Marie-Claire Alain's Erato CD-set (Erato-2202-45402-2 + 2292-45508-2) and Helga Schauerte's Motette CD-set (Motelle CD-11301 + CD-11311). Alain's and Schauerte's notes do not coincide completely in every detail, and I've tried to keep the text in the middle-of-the-road where they disagree. I've retranslated the dedication from the Litanies but I'm not sure that I've translated the last line's delicious ambiguity very well. Suggestions welcome. Does anybody know if any of Jehan Alain's photos and drawings can be scanned and used here? Copyright information is difficult to locate. Next job is to write something useful about some of his works. Anybody up for that? Robindch 13:11, 7 August 2006 (UTC)
  • Is there any more information about Jehan Stéfan and the sources for his researches into Alain's works? The list as presented, while excellent, would benefit from some external support which is more substantial than the copies (which is all I've been able to find with google). All the allusions and references to Jehan Stefan must be deleted : this guy, who uses a pseudonym, is not a famous musicologist at all. He just wrote a few words on an Internet forum. He is absolutely not notable, his work is recognized by nobody. I will undertake the deletion of his absurdity catalog soon if nobody did it by then. Mutatis mutandis 17:08, 9 July 2007 (UTC)
Do you have the AWV catalog to include in their place? I'm not a musicologist and I'm not in much of a position to judge the issue one way or the other. Robindch 21:48, 22 July 2007 (UTC)
Unfortunately, I'm not a musicologist, I'm just musically interested by Alain's works, and I haven't got the AWV catalog. But using Google, the only thing I'm *really* certain about, is that mentionning the name of Jehan Stefan is out-subject and nonrelevant ; his work was only to spread his catalog all over the Internet thanks to Wikipedia, although it is a complete OR. To finish, in order not to lower him to much, I don't translate you what he wrote here... Mutatis mutandis 12:34, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
