Jeffrey Babcock (born on July 25, 1951 in Mankato, Minnesota) is an American television broadcaster, best known a a consumer and finance reporter for WABC's Good Morning New York in the early 1980's, where he worked with host Spencer Christian. His television news career started at WABC TV where he auditioned one day and was on Good Morning New York with Christian the next morning.
In 1966 Babcock began his broadcasting career at KDAL radio in Duluth, Minnesota. He holds a BA History (United States and Canadian) from York University, Toronto, Ontario. He did freelance reporting for NPR on Canadian affairs and worked for the Wall Street Journal Report in New York covering finance. He also worked as a reporter and financial and consumer specialist at WBNS TV, Coluumbus, OH from 1988 to 1990. From there, Babcock moved to Seattle's KIRO TV where he covered environmental stories in the early1990's. In 1992, Babcock joined the investment firm of Smith Barney (Portland, Oregon) where he is a Senior Investment Management Specialist with the firm's Consulting Group. He appeared regularly in the early 1990's on both KATU TV (Portland, Oregon) news and talk programs, as a commentator on captial markets and personal finance.
An expert alpine and cross country skier, Babcock still lists golf as just a hobby. He is a member of Oswego Lake Country Club and an annual sustaining Rotary Club Paul Harris Fellow.
