Jeff Kopas - Filmmaker
Born in Toronto, Canada, Jeff is an award-winning filmmaker[citation needed] who is active in both film and television. He is a graduate of Queens University, and has professional film training from the New York University’s TISCH film school. He has an international background in media business development, and eight years of production experience.
Jeff has written, directed, and co-produced six well-received[citation needed] short films (The last being the Bravo Film Dogasaur which has screened, been awarded, and currently is being distributed internationally). He has directed a variety of nationally broadcast commercial spots, as well as written his fourth feature length film script, which he is directing and producing (the project Little Dude. Big Balls is slated for production in January 2009). His second feature screenplay, Paper, is a currently in development with a division company of Warner Brothers; Jeff is hoping to direct this film in the summer of 2009.
In October 2007, he made a one-hour film on his climb of Kilimanjaro. In August 2008, he is documenting a trip to the high Arctic by a group of Canadian artists, with their interpretations of the region expressed through their respective disciplines and integrated into the film.
He established Vitality Media Productions in 2004 and incorporated the company two years later. The office is located in downtown Toronto.
In partnership with more experienced and established production companies Jeff is currently developing two concert-based feature documentaries on the Barenaked Ladies twenty-fifth anniversary, and Gordon Lightfoot Live at the sinking of the Edmund Fitzgerald.
