Jeffrey L. Daly served as the Chief Designer of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, from 1979-2006. In 2006 he was named special advisor to the director for capital projects.

He received a masters degree from the Rochester Institute of Technology.

During his tenure the Metropolitan expanded or renovated nearly continuously, and Daly was the designer in charge of many of the museum's most well-known public spaces, including the galleries of Greek and Roman art, the European Paintings galleries, the Ancient Near East Galleries, and the renovation of the Egyptian wing.

Daly oversaw a design department of more than twenty, and is a close confidante of Philippe de Montebello, the Met's Director.

In 2006 Daly stepped down from day-to-day oversight of the Design Department and became a special advisor to the Director. He subsequently oversaw the design and construction of the final phase (of three) of the Galleries of Greek and Roman art at the Met, the Belfer Court, which opened in May 2007.

Daly served on the board of the Wilderstein Preservation in Rheinbeck, NY from 2003 to 2007. In 2008 he became Chairman of the board of the Shaker Museum and Library.
