[edit] Empire State Building jump

On April 27, 2006, Corliss was arrested while attempting to jump from the observation deck of the Empire State Building. Soon after this incident, Corliss was fired from his job as host of the Discovery Channel program Stunt Junkies and banned from all future Discovery Networks projects. Corliss was subsequently charged with first- and second-degree reckless endangerment. While both reckless endangerment charges were dismissed by the trial judge before trial, the second-degree reckless endangerment charge was reinstated on appeal, and Corliss is currently facing trial on that charge.[1] He faces up to one year in prison if convicted.

In April of 2007, the owners of the Empire State Building sued Corliss for $12 million in damages, claiming he had injured a security guard, damaged the building's reputation, and cost it money from lost business. On January 15, 2008, Corliss filed a $30 million counterclaim against the owners of the Empire State building, alleging unlawful imprisonment, defamation of character, emotional distress and loss of income..[2]
