Commercial links

You seem to be adding quite a few commercial links to pages on Wikipedia. I have removed what I could and will continue to watch any pages you edit for these sorts of edits. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.111.239.137 (talk) 23:50, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Please stop trying to use Wikipedia for self-promotion. Thanks. -- zzuuzz (talk) 12:34, 20 May 2008 (UTC)

It has become apparent that your account is only being used for spamming inappropriate external links or self-promotion, so it has been blocked indefinitely. Wikipedia is NOT a "repository of links" or a "vehicle for advertising" and persistent spammers will also have their websites blacklisted.

I am studying the rules and would like to be reinstated. I never meant to spam. I would actually like to use my 25+ years of experience in the area of graphics and conversion technologies to improve some of the general articles about formats like SVG, vector graphics, etc in an objective and useful way. Please have some sympathy with a beginner... I do have a lot to offer. nrdgrl (talk) 01:10, 21 May 2008 (UTC)

This blocked user (block log | autoblocks | rangeblocks | unblock | contribs | deleted contribs) has asked to be unblocked, but an administrator has reviewed and declined this request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock request while you are blocked.

Request reason: "Please unblock my account for the reason stated above."

Decline reason: "I find it hard to believe that you didn't mean to spam when you used your account and two anonymous IPs to repeatedly add external links. We don't look kindly on spamming here, and the fact that you deliberately tried to evade scrutiny makes it even worse. Block endorsed. — Blueboy96 12:33, 22 May 2008 (UTC)"

Please make any further unblock requests by using the {{unblock}} template. However, abuse of the template may result in your talk page being protected.

Request reason: "I can not apologize enough for the unintended abuse. I did not do the anonymous postings. A colleague of mine did without my knowing. I have talked to him and no one from our company will post to wikipedia anonymously ever again. I regret that our actions have caused a block and I plan to make this up with by making useful contributions when I am reinstated. Please reconsider and let me prove my seriously good intentions"

Decline reason: "This request for unblocking has been declined due to your history of vandalism and/or disruption to this encyclopedia. However, we are willing to give you another chance provided that you can earn back the trust of the Wikipedia community. To be unblocked you need to demonstrate that you are willing and able to contribute positively to Wikipedia. You can do this by:

  • Familiarizing yourself with our basic rules.
  • Pick any pre-existing article you wish to improve.
  • Click edit this page on that article and scroll down past the message informing you of your block.
  • Copy the source of that article and paste it to the bottom of your talk page under a new top-level heading (like this: = Article title =)
  • Propose some significant and well researched improvements to your article by editing your personal copy of the article.
  • When are you are done with your work, re-request unblocking and an administrator will review your proposed edits.
    • If we are convinced that your proposed edits will improve Wikipedia as an encyclopedia, you will be unblocked.
If you need help while working with your proposed edits, you may add "{{helpme|your question here}}" to your talk page. Thank you. — Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:26, 22 May 2008 (UTC)"

In reviewing this, (1) I don't believe the IP users weren't related with you, because you were all spamming heavily in a close time period to each other, and (2) regardless, you have been spamming with this account anyway. As for being unfamiliar, you were warned to stop above, but repeatedly reinserted the links. I might be willing to unblock but you haven't convinced me that you understand what you did wrong and won't repeat it. Mangojuicetalk 13:48, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
I understand that it was wrong to put links to company products in the relevant listings ourselves. We will not repeat it. I have only ever used my own account. A colleague, who understood less than me about Wikipedia, resented that they were removed and added them anonymously when I told him that our listings were pulled. I have explained the trouble to him and he will not do this again. I do not know what else I can say to assure you - just that I am a good person with good intentions. I am not a "spammer" - we were just trying to get our products into the relevant listings which I now understand has to wait until someone objective decides they belong in what is intended to be a complete listing of PDF software. Per an offer by someone else to give us a second chance based on improving a article, I do have some very useful information to add to the WMF page. I hope it will be reviewed positively. nrdgrl (talk) 15:55, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

A question

So far, your only interest on Wikipedia seems to be advertising. Are you sure you want a Wikipedia account, once you've stopped doing that? What other useful edits are you hoping to make? -FisherQueen (talk · contribs) 14:06, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Yes - All along I wanted to help improve the sections on vector formats which we have extensive experience with. I have some information ready to add, for example, to the WMF page. Anyhow, my first (dumb) step was to add our products to some relevant pages. By the way, I was not always the one to put them back if they were taken off. Other people, who watch the PDF software listing, for example, would add them back and then, because they were extenal links and not article links, they would be removed again. This happened several times in the past month without our involvement. I do hope someone decides to add them back at some point. It won't be me though - I get it.... Thanks for considering our unblock request.... nrdgrl (talk) 16:01, 22 May 2008 (UTC)

Graphic File Formats

  1. redirectImage file formats

Note - Page should not redirect to just to a page on Image File formats - Instead, it should summarize the four major types of graphics formats.

Graphic file formats can be divided into four main types which are:

Image formats, also called raster files or bitmaps contain a representation a graphic stored as pixels at a fixed resolution. An example is a photographic digital image or scanned image. Some of the most common image formats include GIF, JPEG, PNG and BMP. Image formats are commonly used in documents and on the Web.

Vector formats define graphics as mathematical expressions and are resolution-independent and scalable. Examples of vector formats are AI, DXF, CGM, MIF and SVG. Examples of vector graphics are illustrations, line art, logos and CAD drawings.

Metafile formats are portable and can include contain both raster and vector information. Examples are application-independent formats such as WMF and EMF.

Page Description Languages are used to describe the layout of a printed page containing text, objects and images. Examples are PostScript, PDF and PCL.

{{unblock|As requested, I have started to improve the section which interests me most and is often inaccurate - all things regarding Graphics File Formats. My first attempt is for your consideration with the hope that you will unblock my account. Please let me know if you will put your trust in me to improve these sections. I will work from this level on down to improve the different format pages one at a time... Thank you. }} nrdgrl (talk) 13:01, 26 May 2008 (UTC)
