Jeanbonheur Kongolo Pande (1978-) is a Congolese by citizenship, and now his serving as AACC Ecumenical Darfur Focal in charge of coordinating All Africa Conference of Churches project on peace resolution in Darfur bordering Chad and Central Africa Republic. a position appointed to him after a five years leading the Coordination of Africa Journalists Commission on Human Rights. He also serve as communication and public relation officer of the taskforce committee of the Communaute Congolaise du Kenya in searching to re-organise the congolese population living in Kenya.
He is commonly called by his French name, 'Jean, due to his open spirit in struggle for human rights, good governance, accountability and transparence in the management of the State affairs: He is dedicate is profession for social justice, peace and dignity among people of the nations.
Jeanbonheur, of the Kasai Occidental, was born in Mbandaka, Equator Provinve of the Democratic Republic of Congo on 28th July 1978 by the parents Benjamain Kongolo and Elizabeth Tshilomba. Jeanbonheur study journalism and International relations and went further in studing Ecumenical and Development Study in the University of Geneva/Bossey Institute tough World Council of Churches Scholarships and people of good will.
Mr. Jeanbonheur Kongolo was a key member of the Great Lakes Youth for peace and conflicts resolution that struggled for the reintroduction of peace dialogue in the region, and later formed a coalition movement of the African journalists with played a role on reporting human rights violence in Great Lakes region from 2000 to 2005. He has been a leading crusader for returning D.R.Congo to a multi-party state, widening democratic space and gender issues in D.R.C. Other than that, he facilitates many seminars, workshops, publishing articles and produce video documentaries for peace and social justice in Africa. Has been a leading human rights activist practitioner in Great Lakes. He has been involved in campaign for access to information in Kenya and DRC and championing women’s rights through publishing articles.
After his study in Geneva, Jean Bonheur Kongolo found the Blomming Youth Network (BYN) for the empowerment of youth. The Blooming Youth Network is an ecumenical movement of youth established in 2007. The organisation is an open opportunity for youth – from all over the world and from all walk of the society to advocate and promote ecumenical spirituality of social justice in Africa through forum, workhops and gathrings by reflecting and conversing on the over-arching theme: Democracy, Human Right, Social Justice, Gender equality, Human sexuality, Globalisation, Religious, Race, Politics and Foreigner Policy. “How youth on the earth can witness together?” was the first Forum held in Naivasha in April 2007 with characterized by humanism, systems of thinking and principled pragmatism.
The BYN makes no declarations and issues no recommendations. Its impact lies in the many initiatives and ideas that the participants bring back home and integrate in their actions in their own environment.
It is the combination of place, people and process that makes the Blooming Youth Network unique. The informality and beauty of the place has a decisive influence. The environment, in which people can freely, unpretentiously and creatively converse, conveys harmony and aesthetics.
The BYN membership provide diversity of men and women, of old and young, and a true mix of nationalities from all continents: Church and Laity leaders, global corporate leaders, thought leaders, artists, clerics, civic leaders and NGO leaders. Many participants bring their culture and this strongly influences the atmosphere.
The process and program allow for each participant to combine sessions, talks and discussions with excursions, walks in the woods or spending time with their new friends. The conference program is a blend of plenary sessions, workshops and conversations that carry on in smaller settings where participants can explore in more depth subjects of their choice. Cultural performances and nature walks are an integral part of the program, as they help open minds and stimulate ideas.
The Blooming Youth Network brought together over 60 youth from Africa, Asia, Europe, America and Pacific in a reflection exploring youth challenges in 21 century. Behind these events is the networking of youth came from a nonprofit organisation with the mission of furthering the debate on the big challenges facing our societies.
In April 2007, we placed at the center of our discussions the need to find solutions to the human sexuality (HIV&ADIS, Homosexuality), Drug abuse, socio – economic and security equation, the most pressing quest facing us today, while standing firm with regard to the principles of church traditions, democracy, and human rights. All these issues need to be addressed together.
We live in a century of transition, where the need for new ideas and strategies to deal with our common challenges is greater than ever. The BYN is a contributors of this direction.
