Jean-Paul Hansford was born on 2nd November 1958 in Ryde Nursing Home on the Isle of Wight. Jean-Paul was responsible for building the team that founded and launched Isle of Wight Radio at 11.00 am on Easter Sunday, April 15th 1990. He was educated at St. Mary's R.C. Primary School in Ryde and St. John's College in Southsea. Before setting up Isle of Wight Radio he gained his Post Graduate Radio Journalism degree at the London College of Printing in the Elephant and Castle. His first radio job was with BBC Radio York and he then joined Hampshire's Ocean Sound as a founder member of the presentation team. He also held senior positions with 2CR FM in Dorset, FOX FM in Oxfordshire, BBC Radio Solent and Connect FM in Northamptonshire. He is currently back on the Isle of Wight and running www.demotapes.co.uk, a website he built to help aspiring radio broadcasters.
