Jeani passed away on Friday, December 21, 2007. She is important as a Canadian writer and rock critic, as she was the very first full-time rock critic (of either gender) to be employed by a major Canadian newspaper -- at a time when women in that business were shamelessly marginalized. Some of her benchmark musician interviews (Elton John, 1971; Billy Joel, 1976) are still quoted by those in the business decades after they were written. She is considered a seminal influence on the formation of the fledgling Vancouver Jazz Society of which she was a tireless supporter. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Felixgecko (talkcontribs) 09:23, December 30, 2007
