edit this Open Tasks template
- Articles needing a content fork
- Mainly, these are articles on films and either their source or subsequent musicals. There are a couple where the musical needs to be "forked" from the source material. Feel free to add or remove as necessary. Important: If you split an article, please make sure that you move all the relevant links from the first article to the new one. To find which links to move, click on "What links here" at the old article and look through the list to see which links should be pointed to the film related link (for example, articles on actors in the film). Then, click on those links and update them to point to the film article. Thanks!

To-do list for Jeanette MacDonald: |
edit · history · watch · refresh |
- Her name is misspelled throughout the E N T I R E article.
- The second paragraph of the "Marriage" section contains controversial information that involves two polarised points of view. Both views should be presented, but currently one of these two views is given too much space and reads like a promo for a book and its author.
- lead section needs to be rewritten as a summary of the article, rather than as an introduction.
- the excessive detail in relation to stage and film roles needs to be absorbed into the text so that the list can be removed. Interesting snippets relating to the films that have no specific relevance to MacDonald, should be deleted and discussed in the film's articles, if necessary.
- the list itself should be changed into a filmography and split off to a new article if it's length unbalances this article
- numerous cases of POV must be removed. It's not ok to say something like "MacDonald was a wonderful singer" because that indicates that it's the view of Wikipedia. If the comment was attributed to a critic for example, and a reference provided, this would be fine. Examples of POV that needs to be removed : "During the next 10 years, she made the most of her assets—enormous determination and stamina, a sweet voice, a melting gaze, a dainty ankle, and a cloud of red-gold hair", "a wonderful happenstance", "This unlikely combination collided almost accidentally on a movie soundstage, and the sparks ignited a nation", "the brilliant film director Ernst Lubitsch", "A nonsensical desert island screwball comedy", " A delightful farce", "wrote famous diva Lotte Lehmann", "Chicago’s high priestess of criticism" and many, many others.
- quotes are great and help give context and substance, but they must be correctly sourced. Without a source, they should really be deleted.
- the article as a whole needs to be sourced per Wikipedia:Citing sources. From the current list of references it's completely unclear how they were used to create this article
- a subject should always be referred to by surname or by full name. ie "Jeanette MacDonald" or "MacDonald" - never simply "Jeanette", except if it's part of a quote.
- article needs to be "wikified" - film titles should all be in italics, and wikilinks should be used to allow linking to other articles. Example "Jeanette appeared in condensed radio versions of many of her films on programs like Cecil B. DeMille's Lux Radio Theatre, usually with Nelson Eddy, and the Railroad Hour which starred Gordon MacRae" could be rewritten as "MacDonald appeared in condensed radio versions of many of her films on programs like Cecil B. DeMille's Lux Radio Theatre, usually with Nelson Eddy, and The Railroad Hour, which starred Gordon MacRae".

[edit] iron butterfly nickname?
Iron Butterfly (disambiguation) claims: "A nickname for the 1930s movie musical star Jeanette Macdonald." Is that true or false? It shouldn't be on one and not the other. --Rajah (talk) 15:17, 16 May 2008 (UTC)
