Jean Carper

Jean Carper (born January 3, 1933) is an American medical journalist, syndicated columnist, consumer advocate and author of 23 books. She serves on the board of directors for the American Aging Association and is also a board member of the American Botanical Council.

Jean is a graduate of Ohio Wesleyan University in Delaware, Ohio, and a recipient of their alumni achievement award.

Jean was a senior medical correspondent for CNN (Cable News Network), and received the cable industry's ACE award for a series on brain cancer. She has written hundreds of articles for a variety of national publications, including the Washington Post and the Reader's Digest. She has appeared on numerous television programs, including the Today Show, Good Morning America and Dateline.

Jean Carper's books include: Your Miracle Brain, Miracle Cures, Food Your Miracle Medicine, The Food Pharmacy and the award-winning Stop Aging Now!. Her column, Eat Smart, appears every week in Gannett's Sunday supplement, USA Weekend. She also co-authored the book The Dark Side of the Marketplace (with Senator Warren Magnuson), and Eating May Be Hazardous for Your Health (with Jacqueline Verrett), a scientific critique of the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s policies.

Stop Aging Now!, based on the free-radical theory of aging, details research supporting the use of specific vitamins, minerals, herbs and foods for their anti-aging properties. She received the American Aging Association's 1995 Excellence in Journalism Award for Stop Aging Now!.

In 1996, she founded Stop Aging Now! and began selling anti-aging supplements formulated based on the research she reported on in her books.
