Jean Antoine Injalbert

Jean Antoine Injalbert (1845-1933) was a French sculptor, born at Béziers. He was a pupil of Dumont and won the Prix de Rome in 1874. At the Exposition of 1889 he won the Grand Prix and in 1900 was a member of the jury. In 1905 he was made a member of the Institute and in 1910 Commander of the Legion of Honor. His work shows powerful imagination and strong personality as well as great knowledge. Among his statues are "Hippomenes," at the Luxembourg; "Eve After the Fall," at Montpelier; "Sadi-Carnot," at Cette; "Love Conquering the Lion," "Fame," "The Laughing Child," and several others, at Béziers.
