Hey JE, those are some high tech pages you're writing. Very impressive. ~~AG

  • Thanks "AG". Have you checked out this page yet? I'm sure you have. --JE.at.UWOU|T 06:04, 11 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Keesiewonder talk

Execllent! Thanks for your note. Yes, perhaps we can collaborate on something. I'm buried in an assignment on immunology right now, but did notice this morning that Wikipedia lacked an entry for SIS (Small intestinal submucosa), so I added it and began a discussion page for it. So, that could be an alternative to your work on connexin. Just a thought. I expect you are more advanced in the science material than I am, and you're certainly more fluent with all things Wiki! I'll study up on your connexin material when I get a breather, and will at least put a watch on it now. By the way, I'm in New England, USA. Keesiewonder 19:14, 12 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, that sounds good. I doubt I'm more advanced in science (just a lowly undergrad :) but I know my way around PubMed. So, ya that sounds good. I'm not well versed in GI but I'll do some research on the submucosa. I'll check some other stuff too tomorrow. Maybe we can get a couple articles going and a couple other people in on this. I'm at UWO in London, ON. JE.at.UWOU|T 23:34, 12 November 2006 (UTC)
Ah ... well, then *all* of your education is current while mine spreads out for probably 20 years more than yours. Could make for a good collaborative team ... Thanks for your enthusiasm. And I voted for connexin! --Keesiewonder 12:25, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

Hey, Keesiewonder (by the way, do you have any idea what the general concensus is on posting messages to people? Do you respond on the talk page where the convo was started or do you keep posting on each others talk page?) Anyway. I created a page for SIS and put up a small definition so the new page patrollers don't delete it, but I don't know a lot about the subject (though it sounds very interesting). Unfortunatly, it seems I slept through most of cell biology in second year and struggled woefully with it, however, though other courses I have learned a great deal about molecular biology at it pertains to clinical or laboratory applications (e.g. c-fos). However, it sounds interesting. Is it a current topic of research for you? As you become more of a wikiholic, you'll find yourself editing pages on things you've just seen lectures on or researched (see sex determination and differentiation(human) for an example of how I just had to run home and create a page from a lecture in reproductive physiology, lol). Anyway, you should probably add a much more concise and articulate definition on SIS. I better get to class. Best Regards JE.at.UWOU|T 18:55, 13 November 2006 (UTC)

  • I'll have to get back to you Tuesday since I have an assignment due. All I'll say for now is material I had submitted yesterday or Saturday has disappeared ... I had started a page also and had provided a paragraph I'd written plus 2 scholarly resources. Do you know how to find what was deleted ... Or shall I recreate it? What a pain. It is so discouraging that some people have time to ruin things but not time to make the world or themselves a better place if only in some small way. More later ... :-) --Keesiewonder 19:58, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
So true. I'm not sure how to find that out, but I will look into it. Enjoy the wikiholiday and good luck with the assignment. I'm lucky that I have a relatively low workload until xmas finals :) --JE.at.UWOU|T 20:01, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Hey, I found it. Hope you can see it too. I probably created it in the wrong way.[[1]]--Keesiewonder 20:10, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
What's the page link? -- JE.at.UWOU|T 20:21, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
Ahhh, I see the problem. Wikipedia is all "case sensitive". I've recently found out that its best to create articles that contain lowercase letters i.e. small intestinal submucosa instead of Small Intestinal Submucosa. Check out WP:MOSHEAD for more info. I'll create a redirect instead. Best, JE.at.UWOU|T 20:29, 13 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Moved my SIS discussion page under your SIS article page. I probably did it wrong though ... used copy/paste then realized I should have exercised the move tab. I see you're interested in immunology too! :-) I'm late for work ... --Keesiewonder 13:08, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
  • Glad you like my user page updates! I posted a citation for an article discussing cardiac stents on the/our SIS discussion page. I'll track down the NEJM article you mentioned - I see aortic stents daily in my work. I'm much better reading French than writing it ... need to brush up on the tenses ... I take it you've lived in France for 4 months ... but French speaking Canada all your life ... Later ... Keesiewonder 19:50, 15 November 2006 (UTC)
I found the link to the journal article (via PubMed). And dispite popular belief, most people in Canada don't even like French, haha, i had to take it in grade school and hated it. I'm glad I kept with it though, because it is useful having another language. I'm trying to pick up a bit of german because my moms family is german and my grandpa stil speaks it a bit. My girlfriends greek so I might try and learn a few words of that too:)

[edit] Immune system

I kinda like the image that is there now, for the simple reason that the text is easier to read at a smaller size. I did not "create" any of the original images and am not particularly attached to them, I just like them because A)the one there now is easy to read at small size (and this one does show the disulfide bond) and B)the original one shows where the antigen binds to the antibody. But like I said, not particularly attached and like you said I don't own the page and if you feel your image is better, put it in.

Anyhow I do have a few suggestions of antibody based images that would be nice to include in several other articles, and would be really easy to add if you feel like modifying your diagram. Off the top of my head a diagram showing the FC and FAb regions, but others too.

Also, would you consider uploading your images to the commons? I have been trying to compile all of the immunology related images there (when possible), so that that are all in one place and so that all of the wikis can use them easily. You can see what else is there if you want:Category:Immunology. Let me know if you want me to move them to the commons, I can do it pretty easily. Keep up the good work, and thanks! Cheers--DO11.10 02:26, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I have moved four pictures to the commons (they are tagged with "Now commons".) If you feel that the information is presented fine on the commons page you can delete the image from wikipedia, and they will remain at the commons and in all of your articles. As always you can anonymously edit at the commons, but you cannot upload anything. Keep up the good work--DO11.10 18:25, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: "General Comment"

Thanks, it is good to know that someone is getting use out of the article. Since there haven't really been any changes to the immune system article in the last two months I was thinking about maybe putting the article up as a candidate for Featured Article. What do you think???

I would like to be able to contribute more, especially over the holidays, but my research (and more specifically my boss) need much attention at the moment. If there is anything though.... Cheers and happy editing!!!--DO11.10 21:34, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Hey Je noticed your edit to Trevor Marshall, and wanted to point out that those Keogh EJ, et. al. papers are not papers by Trevor Marshall. "T Marshall" could refer to Tom Marshall or Terry Marshall, or Thorvald Marshall. For the most part, you have to be specific and type in "Trevor Marshall" to bring up the correct citations. Just trying to help- good move though, cleaning it up. Also did you happen to notice this bit by Sarabrate: "In regards to your corrections of the first paragraph, I feel it goes a bit overboard. Give the reader a little credit! I think they can certainly infer from the original piece that the MP is one of many treatments for chronic disease. I also think readers can infer on their own that the treatment is controversial, seeing as there are no statements in the piece that even come close to saying that the MP is the only treatment option for sarcoidosis etc." Shheesh! As always, Cheers!--DO11.10 18:27, 19 December 2006 (UTC)
Oh wait I see you just move that part, well maybe it is him???--DO11.10 18:28, 19 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] James Clerk Maxwell FA Status

lol, "edit" button? I never knew there was an "edit" button :). Normally, I would actually edit the article and fix problems I pointed out; lately though, I haven't been finding enough time to do this, so I tend to simply copy+paste a bunch of examples.

About the grammar, User:Tony1 has an useful guide at User:Tony1/How to satisfy Criterion 1a. Also, while I'm here, the "See also" section is bloated – why is there a link to a redirect to the article (Maxwell, and twice)? Thanks, AZ t 23:59, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] AfD Nomination: Wii elbow

An editor has nominated the article Wii elbow for deletion, under the Articles for deletion process. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the nomination (also see What Wikipedia is not and Deletion policy). Your opinions on why the topic of the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome: participate in the discussion by editing Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Wii elbow. Add four tildes like this ˜˜˜˜ to sign your comments. You can also edit the article Wii elbow during the discussion, but do not remove the "Articles for Deletion" template (the box at the top of the article), this will not end the deletion debate. [edit] Old stories

Hi, since you were pretty neutral in that discussion and your entry was changed: Have a look at Trevor Marshall again and what happened to that page. I will keep my fingers away from it, I have invested enough effort. --Savisha 01:44, 22 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Helping out with the Unassessed Wikipedia Biographies

Seeing that you are an active member of the WikiBiography Project, I was wondering if you would help lend a hand in helping us clear out the amount of unassessed articles tagged with {{WPBiography}}. Many of them are of stub and start class, but a few are of B or A caliber. Getting a simple assessment rating can help us start moving many of these biographies to a higher quality article. Thank you! --Ozgod 20:49, 23 February 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:James_Clerk_Maxwell.png

Thanks for uploading Image:James_Clerk_Maxwell.png. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 18:46, 30 June 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Lokal_Profil 18:46, 30 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Londonflag.PNG

Image:Londonflag.PNG is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MRIjournal.gif

Thanks for uploading Image:MRIjournal.gif. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 17:15, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Milton-hand.jpg

Thank you for uploading Image:Milton-hand.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 15:07, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
