[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Dundalkflag.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Dundalkflag.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 09:44, 11 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] List of Eagle Scouts

You added an entry to the List of Eagle Scouts. Please see the guidelines listed on the talk page. You will note that the entry needs either a full article or a citation and must pass the notability test. If the entry is not cited within two days it will be deleted per the guidelines. while this entry does link to an article, the article has no cite for Eagle Scout. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 20:29, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

I found proof of this and will update. Rlevse 20:56, 24 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] 1 June inputs

Keeler- is a confirmed DESA; Agre- if he's DESA it is recent, do you have a ref for this? see [1]; Matte- do you have a ref for this?; Jones-do you have a ref for this? I don't have any problem with these men being on the notable Eagle list, but I would like to put refs into their own Wiki articles if possible. Thanks, Rlevse 14:00, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

PS: I just saw on the DESA page Agre got it in 2005, great. If there's a web ref, I'd still like to use it for support, Thanks. I'll add him to the confirmed DESA list I ref'd above. Rlevse 14:01, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Tom Matte

I'll remove the citation needed tag from the list. The Tom Matte artricle needs some sort of citation and it needs the proper category. Please let me know if you need help on that. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 15:36, 30 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image Tagging for Image:KristenCox.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:KristenCox.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. For assistance on the image use policy, see Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 20:06, 29 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Untagged image

An image you uploaded, Image:Shields-1-.gif, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 23:31, 29 December 2006 (UTC)

[edit] George Washington a Catholic?

I have never heard this theory before... interesting. I would love to read more on this claim. I see that the Archdioces's online archives for the Denver Register only go back a few years. Could you provide the text of the relevant portions of the articles you cite? Blueboar 14:44, 12 June 2007 (UTC)

When you create a new scout article, please list it under "new articles" on our main project page. I did so for you re Silver Wolf.Rlevse 10:17, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
I did so for some other of your articles too.Rlevse 10:23, 20 July 2007 (UTC)
Thanks! Now that I know I'll be sure to add them in the future. --Jdurbach 13:12, 20 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] References

Thanks for adding references to the article. To get these properly formatted, see WPS:REF for help, specifically the "Commonly used cites" section (WPS:CITES)- you can copy and paste the code and just fill in the blanks. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 19:37, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Hint for creating biography link

When you create a new bio, do a WP search for the name, then change the search type from MediaWiki to Google. This will help you find article where that person is mentioned so you can link them. That is how I found and linked Ben H. Love in [Distinguished Service Award (OA)]]. Keep up the good work! --Gadget850 ( Ed) 14:50, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Thanks. Changing the search type is the part I missed. --Jdurbach 15:40, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
Yes- I wish we could make it the default. --Gadget850 ( Ed) 16:54, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

Ah! There is a Wikipedia search engine for FireFox! --Gadget850 ( Ed) 23:53, 2 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ellsworth H. Augustus

Hi,I saw that you added a wikilink to Ellsworth H. Augustus on the Notable Alpha Phi Omega members page. Given the biographies that you have produced, I presume you are going to get to him in the next couple of weeks.Naraht 21:54, 5 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Bechtel

Your stub on Stephen Bechtel says nothing about involvement in Scouting. Pls address that.Rlevse 21:20, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Done! Thanks for noticing that. --Jdurbach 15:15, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Charles Eastman

Yes, I'd say this is start class now, but anytime an article is no longer a stub, you need to remove the stub tags from the bottom of the main article. You may also want to take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Scouting/Assessment if you haven't already.Rlevse 20:18, 20 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Ellsworth H. Augustus International Scout House

The Augustus Scout House was located at Schiff. The National Office was mearly an office building in New Brunswick. It was at Schiff that the Scout House, Musuem, etc, were located. --Emb021 August 21, 2007 —The preceding signed but undated comment was added at 15:50, August 21, 2007 (UTC).

Michael, are you certain? I've seen many references to the "Johnston Historical Museum" being located in New Brunswick at the national office and NOT at Schiff. --Jdurbach 17:55, 21 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Venturing Leadership Award

Rob, keep up the great work. Could you create a knot image for the Venturing Leadership Award? --Jdurbach 14:27, 12 September 2007 (UTC)

D'oh! Believe it or not, I made one, and uploaded it, but I completely forgot to list it on either page... Thanks for the catch!

[edit] Steve Fossett

I have quick-failed this article at WP:GAC on account of criterion 5 (stability) of the GA criteria. At this point, the search for him continues, and he hasn't been confirmed either dead or alive. Once he is, the volume of editing is sure to increase, so I don't think GA status is in the best interests of the article at the present time. Please renominate it once the story winds down and off the pages of major news media sources. Thanks! Dr. Cash 22:47, 14 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Schiff 1931.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Schiff 1931.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 10:24, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

I already fixed this.Rlevse 11:37, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Replaceable fair use Image:KristenCox.jpg

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:KristenCox.jpg. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, fair use media which could be replaced by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if not used in an article), per our Fair Use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Yamla (talk) 22:20, 4 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:18 wsj logo.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:18 wsj logo.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot (talk) 20:43, 15 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] AfD nomination of Jimmy Mathis

I have nominated Jimmy Mathis, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jimmy Mathis. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. [edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:BoardersCoat.jpg}

Thank you for uploading Image:BoardersCoat.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. In particular, for each page the image is used on, the image must have an explanation linking to that page which explains why it needs to be used on that page. Can you please check:

  • That there is a non-free use rationale on the image's escription page for each article the image is used in.
  • That every article it is used on is linked to from its description page.

Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page.
