I have degrees in music and communication. I am especially interested in articles relating to the arts and culture.
I believe that Wikipedia should be a source of reliable information, and a place where the user can locate further sources, so that people can learn more about any given topic, and discover where they can get more good information. Therefore, I like to see sources and citations. I like to learn about books I can read that will have more information on subjects I care about.
I believe that bad grammar and stylistic errors should be corrected. I believe that opinion should be removed, as well as unsubstantiated or unverifiable anecdotes. I believe people should list their sources, or self-publish on the web elsewhere. Trust me, your favorite band already has a million fan sites. Wikipedia really doesn't need to be another fan site, or another imdb. If all you do is link to imdb, you haven't done any research.
If you'd like to help out and do research but all you have is a computer, you can at the very least go to amazon and search through the books there for keywords. You'll come up with all kinds of stuff, and amazon even lets you read a few pages at a time that are relevant to your search! Then you can cite that book.
The best work is done by people who can slog through and cite periodicals. They are often not listed online at all. But they have some great information in them, that was written at the time that your favorite movie or album came out.
