[edit] rtc.gif

I have been defending your concealed carry image against SaltyBoatr's obdurate opposition. Of late, SaltyBoatr has been increasingly difficult to work with. There is no sensible reason to oppose the graphic; he just opposes it "because of WP:V". He has come into conflict with other editors in the general area of gun control, and again, selectively applies policies to just be difficult.

Be that as it may, I have been through sourcing disputes on Wikipedia before, and it is very hard to get any kind of common sense application of WP:V. The policy itself proclaims that verifiability is more important than the truth. Wikipedia has a strong bias towards sites that have some kind of editor process. Since your site consists of only yourself, it will be near impossible to get it approved as a reliable source. You are also not a published author in the field (I am guessing), and that will also work against you. The compromise I proposed seems reasonable to many people: on the page of rtc.gif, list all the states, the years that they implemented concealed carry, and a citation to a reliable source for each state. I don't think this is so difficult, and if you agree, I would like to work with you on it. We can even ask SaltyBoatr if he will contribute to the effort, since he is the only editor with a beef against the graphic, and see if he will contribute in good faith.

What do you think? kevinp2 (talk) 22:05, 29 April 2008 (UTC)

I had planned to do exactly that. I've asked for help on one of the gun activism forums, and have received some, already. I'm not going to be able to put anything together for a couple of days, but we'll have the image back, soon.

Ok, sounds good. I recommend putting a copy of the references on the rtc.gif page itself, so nobody can object to the Radical Gun Nuttery page any longer. Let me know if you need any help. kevinp2 (talk) 13:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)
