[edit] Bunnymen discog

Just wanted to say what an excellent job you have done on various Bunnymen-related articles, particularly the discography. Bravo sir, well done. sparkl!sm hey! 16:27, 8 May 2008 (UTC)

mvdbase.com... But double-check if you can, and don't cite it because its not reliable. Another thing about the site is that it sometimes passes of live concerts as separate music videos, ignore those. indopug (talk) 16:30, 17 May 2008 (UTC)

I've replied on the article talk page. indopug (talk) 17:09, 22 May 2008 (UTC)
Thanks and congrats. indopug (talk) 12:17, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Lips like suuuuuuuuugaaaaarr . . .

You don't need to tag all the Echo and the Bunnymen articles with the WP:ALM project tag, since not everything they're done is alternative rock. So anything that's just plain ol' "post-punk" isn't really in the scope of the project. By the way, I have access to some old articles on the band, so let me know what you are working on and I can try to help you. However, I could only find an album review for Porcupine, I'm afraid. [edit] Billy Bragg

A pity you deleted the bit i added to the Billy Bragg article about "Greetings To The new Brunette".I well recall, it received a lot of airplay-at least it did in Dublin.jeanne (talk) 12:11, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Alianore de Lovayne

Hello, I added citations and a couple of more references. It can all be verified. Is it ok now? Thanks for the compliment by the way.Cheers.jeanne (talk) 09:24, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

I added two citations to Burke's Peerage and included the page number where she is found. Thanks for your help.jeanne (talk) 11:31, 27 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] I Want To Be There (When You Come)

"to be" is not a phrasal verb. It's an infinitive. In this case, the word "to" is not a preposition, it's a piece of the infinitive (more precisely, a grammatical particle). In all (or maybe not all, but I think so) phrasal verbs, the preposition comes after the verb. Tuf-Kat (talk) 00:57, 28 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Charts

I noticed that you have access to books that list British chart positions. Would you be able to reference some chart positions for the Alt-Rock WikiProject? The official UK Charts website is terrible for research purposes, and a lot of the articles are right now relying on chart information from websites that aren't really suitable as reliable, credible sources. WesleyDodds (talk) 05:52, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

Highest priority would be the Featured List discographies on the project main page. Basically, if you see any British chart positions that are referenced by everyhit.com or chartstats.com, feel free to replace them with whatever book you have. I'd say start with the British bands and disbanded acts first, the latter of which is least likely to result in need for further referencing in the future. Nirvana discography might be the best to start with, since it's such a high-priority band and probably one of the more visited discography pages. Some of these artists didn't even chart, so not all of them will need their references replaced. WesleyDodds (talk) 07:19, 30 May 2008 (UTC)
Quick question: I know the book probably doesn't have a proper author, but does it have an editor? If so, you can credit the editor like so: "Last, First (ed.)". WesleyDodds (talk) 22:17, 31 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Dates

I reverted the American dating on the Alianore de Lovayne article placed by another user to the correct British system which I had originally used for Alianore, seeing as she was English. I only use American dating for American people; whereas for British and European people I always employ British dating. I have already written to the user and asked him not to alter British dates for British subjects. In fact, I personally prefer the British style.jeanne (talk) 07:27, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

I have done as you suggested. Thanks for your help. Cheers.jeanne (talk) 07:59, 30 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Everyhit.com

OK, I understand about the policies on sources. No further mention will be made to the website in the opener, but having checked my copy of Guiness British Hit Singles I can confirm the original statement is true, to the best of my knowledge. No other act has had more Hits in the UK Top 40 Singles w/o a no. 1. best, Sunil060902 (talk) 11:34, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

Would it be OK to quote British Hit Singles and Albums as a source?
Rationale for Top 40?
Compromise between Top 10s and Top 75s
UK's premier TV chart shows did/do show Top 40 chart run-downs, not Top 75s

[edit] Quick question

First off, great job fixing the citations on the discographies! I have a small question, have you come across an instance where your book outright contradicts EveryHit? ie, EveryHit is found to be wrong (within the Top 40 of course)? I just wanted to see if we could roughly classify EveryHit as an accurate source, and use it at least somewhat confidently. indopug (talk) 13:39, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Conquering myself today

That original version of "The Cutter" kind of sucks. I'm glad the label made them re-record it. WesleyDodds (talk) 21:32, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

I have the Ocean Rain reissue. Those bonus versions were decent, and the "All You Need Is Love" cover wasn't embarassing. WesleyDodds (talk) 11:34, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Almost forgot: talk to User:Ceoil about Bunnymen sources. He's also quite a nice fellow (except when he's been drinking and ranting on about all the godforsaken cityfolk, but that's par for the course). WesleyDodds (talk) 08:47, 9 June 2008 (UTC)

Hi JD554, can you give me a few days and I'll see what I can track down. Also, don't pay too much heed to what Dodds says about me; he has this preconception of Irishmen that I just can't shake ;). Whatever, would be great to see some work on the Bunnymen, best of luck with it. Ceoil (talk) 22:33, 9 June 2008 (UTC)
