Justin - your question about the common misspellings page is well-taken. Answer: yes, it's completely all right to leave a little explanation there. DS 23:57, 6 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Black people

I need help at black people. I am not capable of edit warring against several sock puppets. Whatever consensus we reach in the talk page does not matter if it does not show in the article. We can not all give in to the nonsense. --Ezeu 20:18, 26 July 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Escalators and travelators

The split looks okay. However, i am wondering if travelator is the more common name than moving walkway. What do you think? Simply south 22:02, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

Its probably okay for now. It seems to be very common after i've done a quick google search, although according to ne dictionary website, moving walkway is a British term. Here in the UK, I've not heard it so frequently and heard travelator more frequently. But it may just be here. I think it will do as moving walkway. Simply south 22:18, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
I just realised i misread the dictionary definition (Encarta). Yeah, lets just stick with moving walkway after all. Simply south 22:34, 28 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Pasty

Please stop removing "England" from "Cornwall, England" at Pasty. See Talk:Pasty for more information. In addition, please do not go around calling reverts for a proper reason "vandalism". Read WP:CORNWALL and Cornwall before editing that article again. -- dcclark (talk) 02:19, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

That wasn't me. I was editing the article to change the text at the top that said the article was about 'Cornish Pasty'. The guy you're after is Jellery--Jcvamp 02:23, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
: Huge apologies!! I saw the "J" user name and just clicked. Sorry to waste your time. -- dcclark (talk) 11:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Commercial use of Image:Fishslice1.jpg

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Image:Fishslice1.jpg, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Image:Fishslice1.jpg is an image licensed as "for non-commercial use only" or "used with permission for use on Wikipedia only" which was either uploaded on or after 2005-05-19 or is not used in any articles (CSD I3).

If you created this media file and want to use it on Wikipedia, you may re-upload it (or amend the image description if it has not yet been deleted) and use the license {{GFDL-self}} to license it under the GFDL, or {{cc-by-sa-2.5}} to license it under the Creative Commons Attribution-ShareAlike license, or use {{PD-self}} to release it into the public domain.

If you did not create this media file but want to use it on Wikipedia, there are two ways to proceed. First, you may choose one of the fair use tags from this list if you believe one of those fair use rationales applies to this file. Second, you may want to contact the copyright holder and request that they make the media available under a free license.

If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. This bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion, it did not nominate Image:Fishslice1.jpg itself. Feel free to leave a message on the bot operator's talk page if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot. If you have any questions about what to do next or why your image was nominated for speedy deletion please ask at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. Thanks. --Android Mouse Bot 2 13:18, 29 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Almouth

Given the length of time you have been contributing, I was very surprised to see you make some very fundamental mistakes:

  • if a new title is felt appropriate, we always use the move command. Using copy and paste destroys the article history.
  • there is a well established standard that UK railway station articles will have lower case 'r' and 's' in their titles
  • having created Alnmouth For Alnwick Railway Station, however bad the title was, it was rather silly to create a redirect to a different title! (If you had used a move, the correct redirect would have been created anyway!)

In any case, I suggest that we stick to the station name that National Rail use until they change. -- RHaworth 05:26, 2 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Raquel on the Rachel page

Hi. I replied on my talk page. Your idea sounds good. Did you want to make that change? Cheers. --EarthPerson 23:08, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Citation for cup sizes on Starbucks

Hey, I was the one who provided the initial cite on the cup sizes for the Starbucks article. The reason I chose to put it there was due to ongoing edits of 24 ounces as the size for iced venti cups -- there had been debate over whether it was 24 or 26, so to quell the edit warring, I cited the specific size there. Just an FYI -- thanks. pinotgris 00:22, 13 June 2007 (UTC)

Please do not delete content from articles on Wikipedia, as you did to Spatula. Your edits do not appear to be constructive and have been reverted. If you would like to experiment, please use Wikipedia:Sandbox for test edits. Thank you. Cquan (after the beep...) 23:40, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

That was accidental. I was busy editing the page, and I'd copied and reworded the content. I pressed save by accident whilst the box was empty.--Jcvamp 23:44, 20 June 2007 (UTC)
Yeah I just noticed...no problem:-D. Cquan (after the beep...) 23:44, 20 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Balustrade

Wetman is completely correct the terms refers to the entire certain and particular assemblage and not a handrail. I have given a definitive modern reference on Wetman's page. A balustrade can serve as a form of decorative parapet, protective edging or fencing. It can serve as a handrail when used on a staircase but it is far from the same thing as a handrail. Giano 15:35, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the input. I have replied on Wetman's page. The only thing that I find irritating is that Wetman decided to insult my intelligence rather than just arguing calmly. I may not be an expert on architecture, but I have heard the term balustrade being used in the context I cited, so I checked dictionaries to see if I was correct (again, admitting that I don't know everything). I found that the dictionaries backed up the defintion I'd heard, and I updated the article based on that as the current information was uncited.--Jcvamp 22:26, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi , I just put in my two cents worth on Wetman's talk page if youre not sick of the discussion! Mhicaoidh 11:22, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Me too! --Mcginnly | Natter 19:05, 29 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Semi-Vegetarian

RE. your recent update to Vegetarian page -

  • Flexitarianism (sometimes called semi-vegetarianism) — A diet that consists primarily of vegetarian food, but that allows occasional exceptions.

- I think if vegetarian means not eating animals, then you can't have a semi-vegetarian, any more than you can have semi-unique. I don't feel strongly enough to change it, but you may want to if you agree. Thanks Bob98133 01:56, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

I agree that the term is stupid, but it is one that is used in regards to 'Flexitarianism'.--Jcvamp 02:22, 27 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Poop (constellation)

I have swapped the {{prod}} on Poop (constellation) to an {{rfd}}. The discussion will take place at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_discussion#Poop_.28constellation.29_.E2.86.92_puppis. For now, I have also re-included that redirect on the main dab page to generate more input in the RfD. – sgeureka tc 09:00, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks.--Jcvamp 10:40, 6 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Athlete/Sportsperson

I responded to you on Talk:Sportsperson and made the change you suggested.

Oh, I didn't realise. Thanks. In that case, a lot of links need to be redirected.--Jcvamp (talk) 00:08, 30 November 2007 (UTC)
