I have a MSc in computer science, but no qualifications in any climate related field. My understanding of climate science and global warming is basic and comes entirely from reading up about it from various sources online - realclimate.org, wikipedia, IPCC report, etc. I apply this information to counter bad skeptical arguments when they are made on online forums, which in turn keeps me reading on the subject.
