[edit] Lead section
my understanding is that the first section is supposed to contain statements which summarize more detailed key points and conclusions from the article-proper -- like an article abstract. if this is true, it seems inappropriate to have citations in the lead paragraph, as they should already exist somewhere in the article body where it goes into greater detail.Youngea (talk) 01:15, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Ragtime and the Sahel
Verklempt had indicated that there were previous revisions that indicated that ragtime "originated in the Sahel." Does anyone know if there is a way to search article archives for keywords to identify the particular revision(s) where mentions of the Sahel exist...? thanks Youngea (talk) 01:15, 11 April 2008 (UTC)
- I think that was a failed attempt at reductio ad absurdum on Verklempt's part. He also contested facts in the lead—we must add cites when that happens. Searchable archives do not exist, but are of course a brilliant idea. Please suggest it on Wikipedia:Village pump (technical) or better yet, file a bug report requesting it (just don't ask me how). 86.44.28.245 (talk) 15:07, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
- You're right though that the cited facts should be iterated and expanded upon in the Origins section. I may take a shot at that at some point. 86.44.28.245 (talk) 15:12, 12 April 2008 (UTC)
