[edit] Notabliity

Just because musicians are notable, doesn't make the places they play in notable. -- Gmatsuda (talk) 21:07, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

How is "one of the leading jazz venues in the world" not notable? If a venue "regularly features distinguished performers" then it becomes notable. How else is a venue to become notable, by holding bake sales? The problem with this article is lack of sourcing, not establishing notability. If the claims made are untrue or unsourceable it would be deletable per AfD. If they're true and sourceable it's notable. A quick check on google makes it pretty clear that there are plenty of sources out there and it's just a matter of the article needing improvement and expansion. [edit] Seems notable, but does need refs and expansion...

As a former Angeleno and jazz fan, I was surprised I hadn't heard of this venue before. (It was a nostalgic kick to be reminded of the Helms Bakery trucks ...). I'd guess that means it didn't start up until after I moved away, but the article doesn't say when it was established. Their web site says "eleven years ago" -- argh. Guess that kind of gaffe isn't unique to WP.

It doesn't seem hard to see its notability. It'd be worth going into more detail in the article about its approach, which at least on the surface seems to be more about evangelizing music than making a buck.--NapoliRoma (talk) 21:56, 5 January 2008 (UTC)
