[edit] Do we want some extra categories?
Do we want a category on Jazz producers? I'm thinking of Orrin Keepnews and others. Also, a category for jazz critics like Nat Hentoff? Any comments before I create some?

[edit] New articles
How about having a "new articles" section where anyone can add their newest creations?
Something like this:
- 12 Jun: Sasktel Saskatchewan Jazz Fest
- 11 Jun: Lover Man (Oh Where Can You Be?)
- 10 Jun: Pico and Sepulveda
- 02 Jun: Nancy (With the Laughing Face)
- 02 Jun: All or Nothing at All
- 29 May: 'Round Midnight (album)
- 28 May: 'Round Midnight (1969 album)
Another question: Why not make some more links from within articles or categories to this portal? For example bebop (french) or bebop (dutch) both link to their jazz portals.

- I see no problem with adding a new articles section, my only concern would be keeping the list up to date, I can't imagine many people in the Jazz WikiProject updating the list in the portal manually.
- I'll try to make some more links in articles when I get the time (I shall be trying to rewrite smooth jazz, once I can find some reliable sources!), but you can also be bold and add the links in yourself. --tgheretford (talk) 12:32, 16 June 2007 (UTC)

- I could also add a link to the portal in Template:Jazzfooter. And maybe then add that template to some more articles. As for the new articles list, I see your point. I made this list (above) though without too much trouble, so I could update it once in a while (although the list I made isn't complete ofcourse). Once more people find this portal to start with, they might start adding the new articles they made themselves. Freestyle 13:38, 16 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Adorno Quote
Note that the Adorno quote listed on the front page of this article was written by Adorno in an article he attributed to the pseudonym "Hektor Rottweiler." --- There is a debate concerning to what extent Adorno understood jazz and what jazz he actually heard - i.e., European popularizations of American popularizations of American jazz. His attacks on jazz may not be directed at the "authentic" jazz played by serious musicians. At any rate, it may be worthwhile adding the pseudonym to the quote's attribution to not the ambiguous context. Editor437 01:14, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
