[edit] Comment invited
As an occasional past editor at Template:United States presidential election, 2008,
your comment is invited at Template talk:United States presidential election, 2008#Revisited: Proposal on minimum standards for listing on template
-- Yellowdesk (talk) 18:35, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I've requested final resolution on this issue with Yellowdesk because the rule could solve major problems on other election pages. I hope you will continue to push for your 50/5 split idea.--mitrebox (talk) 02:04, 1 February 2008 (UTC)
- I am doing just that, I've added supporting comments to the new discussion section. Indeed, let's hope it does solve some of the problems on the other election pages. Thanks for your input.--JayJasper (talk) 22:07, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Economic libertarianism
Economic libertarianism is not a phrase, according to search engines. Economic liberalism is not less economically free than economic libertarianism. Some economic libertarians and laissez-faireists support progressive taxation. So it is recommended to change economic libertarianism to economic liberalism in the article Libertarian Party (United States). Changing economic libertarianism to laissez-faire is another option. 71.175.40.201 (talk) 18:25, 16 February 2008 (UTC)
- Seeing how "economic libertarianism" has already been merged with "economic liberalism" (a fact that, admittedly, I had missed until you brought this to my attention), I suppose that would that would be acceptable. I suspect, however, that many frequent editors of the Libertarian Party page would be happier with the latter option, laissez-faire (or maybe free market). In any case, thanks for your comments.--JayJasper (talk) 20:58, 16 February 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Corporate welfare
I see you are also interested in this issue. Would you be interested in collaborating to expand the article?Academic38 (talk) 21:18, 28 February 2008 (UTC)
Well, we could add the multiple estimates of corporate welfare in the US that are made from various ideological perspectives. There is also a new estimate for Canada from the Fraser Institute. For US state and local governments, there are a couple of estimates out there as well. We might also note that most, though not all, definitions of corporate welfare restrict themselves to subsidies, though a few add in things like alleged failure to make companies pay for their externalities (Nader group estimates have done this) or the inclusion of whole agencies (I've seen Cato do this).Academic38 (talk) 05:14, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- I like these ideas. The article is lacking (especially in comparison with related articles, e.g. Corporatism), and in dire need of expansion. So, yes, count me in. I'll see what I can do towards investigating the kind of data you discussed. Thanks for contacting me and sharing your ideas on this.--JayJasper (talk) 20:39, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Independent Presidential Candidates 2008
Please, stop removing Patrick Morrissey from the list of independent candidates. He is a legitimate candidate and as such, belongs on the list. The website is Patrick4pres2008.com. Admittedly, he is not a major candidate as yet, but he will be on the ballot in at least two states and is working on the petitions in several others. —Preceding unsigned comment added by TheFrozenMan (talk • contribs) 19:20, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Please see the talk page for the independent candidates template for the consensus that was reached concerning the criteria for inclusion of candidates on the list. It was decided that only candidates that have received media attention from at least two credible (and objective) sources, as well as having an WP article, should be included. FWIW, I had opposed the latter stipulation. It is also helpful, though not essential, if the candidate has filed with the FEC. If Mr. Morrissey has generated verifiable media coverage, he may meet the notability criteria for having his own article, which you may want to consider creating. Another option would be to contact Zanimum, a WP administator who has conducted a number of interviews with independent candidates for wikinews. If he can get an interview with Mr. Morrissey, the link to that interview would listed on the independent candidate template. Hope this is helpful.--JayJasper (talk) 22:44, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Jesse Ventura and 9/11
- Just a few lines to thank you, JayJasper, for improving some of my words and sentences in the 9/11 section of the Jesse Ventura article. Your alterations have conveyed the tone of what Jesse Ventura said more accurately than I was able to manage. Thanks again for this help! Best wishes. From Tony (in London). - Glad to be of help. Thanks for your contributions to wikipedia as well!--JayJasper (talk) 16:14, 5 April 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Please consider joining the working group for the WMF DC Chapter
Please consider joining the working group for the WMF DC chapter. Since we have a very active and very community oriented DC/MD/VA area group of Wikipedians, it only makes sense to develop it as a chapter, especially given the recent changes to the Board of Trustees structure, giving chapters more of a vote. Hopefully we will be either the first or the second officially recognized US Chapter (WMF Pennsylvania is pending as well), and hopefully our efforts will benefit WMF Penn as well. Remember, it's a working group, and this is a wiki, so feel free to offer changes, make bold changes to the group, and discuss on the talk page! I hope to see you there, as well as Wikimeetup DC 4 if you're attending. ⇒SWATJester Son of the Defender 16:47, 1 May 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Archiving, United States presidential election, 2008
Hello Jay. I don't know if I'm doing something wrong, but I can't seem to archive that talk page. Everytime I go to transfer (paste) the postings at a newly created archive page? My paste button, won't work. GoodDay (talk) 22:40, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks for trying, I had no success in attempting to archive the page, either. Thankfully, Kurykh did. Oh, and thanks for creating the archive box.--JayJasper (talk) 17:08, 3 May 2008 (UTC)
