Jayhawksean is Sean Lancaster -- an associate professor at Grand Valley State University. He teaches courses in educational technology and a few special education courses as well. Sean and his wife, Paula, have also obtained millions of dollars in grants from the National Institute of Health to develop instructionally validated educational software for students with mild disabilities, most noticeably learning disabilities. Many software titles have been developed, tested in schools, and then sold and marketed by Edge Enterprises in Lawrence, KS. The current software being developed is focused on helping adolescents learn vocabulary. Past software has focused on subjects like self-advocacy instruction and test-taking strategies. Much of the content comes from strategies developed at the University of Kansas Department of Special Education in the Center for Research on Learning.
