Jaynee LaVecchia

Jaynee LaVecchia is a Justice who was nominated to serve on the New Jersey Supreme Court on January 6, 2000. She was accepted by the New Jersey Senate and will sit until 2007 when her term expires. If successfully reappointed she will be granted tenure until 2024 when she will be constitutionally removed from office for hitting the 70 year age limit on Supreme Court justices.

LaVecchia was born in Paterson, New Jersey on October 9, 1954. She graduated Douglass College in 1976 and Rutgers School of Law in 1979, and has been a member of the New Jersey Bar since 1980.
LaVecchia has served as Director of the Division of Law and New Jersey Commissioner of Banking and Insurance. She was nominated by Governor Christine Todd Whitman on January 6, 2000 to serve on the New Jersey Supreme Court, and was confirmed by the New Jersey Senate on January 10, 2000. She was officially sworn in on February 1, 2000.
She has been granted tenure until 2024.
