Jayanthi Kumaresh, also known as Veena Jayanthi, is an adept veena player. She was a student of maestro Veena S. Balachander. She has many credits to her name including the youngest veena player to receive 'A Top' from All India Radio and has quite a few musical productions to her credit. She has received four Best Veena Artiste awards from the Music Academy in Chennai.

She is the niece of the legendary Lalgudi G. Jayaraman. She is married to violinist Kumaresh, the younger one of the renowned violin brothers, Ganesh-Kumaresh, and lives in Bangalore.

== Analysis of playing style:

Jayanthi's style is very slick and neat.Unfortunately , one gets a feeling of it having no real substance. She can get very repetetive and mindlessly experimetative(eg. having rythm pads for a concert of classical music). one wonders sometimes if she ever learnt from Dr. S Balachander at all. But having said all this, when she's in a mood to play, she can take rasikas to different plane altogether and does a wonderul job of blending hindustani ornamentations(eg. a meend and more so mukrees) and carnatic ones. ==
