Jay Penske

Jay Penske is an American media and technology entrepreneur, currently based in Los Angeles. Born in New York City, he is the youngest son of Roger Penske, an automotive transportation magnate.

Penske went to high school at St. Mary's Preparatory in Orchard Lake, Michigan. At St. Mary's, Penske was named All-League, All-State, All-American[1], and Player of the Year by USA Today in Lacrosse. Penske also played hockey and earned All-Region and All-State honors. [2] In 1997 he set the school records for the most goals, assists, and total points in lacrosse in the school's history.[3]
He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business[2] with a Bachelors of Science in Finance and Management of Information Systems.[4] Penske is on the board of the Entrepreneurial School at the Wharton School as of 2007,[4] and is also a member of the University of Pennsylvania Library's Board of Directors. Penske is the Chairman, CEO, and founder of VSI.[6] VSI is an interactive media and technology company that owns Mail.com, MovieLine.com, MailTimes; and provides affinity web services to sports franchises, universities, large corporations, non-profit foundations, entertainment entities, and other large affinity organizations.[7] He was also cofounder and Chairman of Firefly Mobile, Inc., a Chicago-based wireless company that develops the firefly (mobile phone) for kids, and other youth targeted mobile products.[4] Penske also owns Dragon Books, Ltd., a Los Angeles based bookstore which sells rare and collectible books.[8]
Penske additionally owns a racing team, with Steve Luczo, the Chairman of Seagate Technologies, and owner of Balance Vector.[4] Luczo Dragon Racing entered a car in the 2007 Indianapolis 500 sponsored by Symantec's Norton 360 product.[4] The team name is derived from Penske's love of books and business interest Dragon Books, Ltd., and his partner's last name.[9] The car was an Dallara-Honda leased from Penske Racing along with crew, and driven by Australian Ryan Briscoe.[4] Briscoe qualified 7th and finished 5th.[10] They are running 3 races in the 2008 Season, with South African Tomas Scheckter as the driver. They will run the Indianapolis 500, as well as Kansas and Infineon.

Penske assists charitable trust organization the Quill Awards, where he is an Executive Council member.[11] Also at the 2007 Indianapolis 500 Luczo Dragon Racing donated over $250,000 of its race proceeds[12]--to benefit the charities and non-profit organizations founded by Baron Davis, Tony Dungy[13], John Elway[14], Wayne Gretzky, Marcus Allen, Jackson Browne, Brandi Chastain, Ronnie Lott, Jonny Moseley, Chris Mullin, Kerri Walsh and Kristi Yamaguchi.[15]
