[edit] License tagging for Image:Ximenes.JPG
Thanks for uploading Image:Ximenes.JPG. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 16:12, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] your interesting new articles
I see the interesting articles you've been adding on the Ximines family. Let me urge you to provide better references, so they dont wind up by getting deleted. A link to the article in another language's Wikipedia is not a reference, nor a link to another article in this one. And a link to a genealogy site also is not considered enough. You need a reference to a least one or better two published sources, print or web or both, and you need to explain in each article why the person is important, with reference to a source that provided the information. It is not enough to give the noble title--there is no presumption her that any but the highest nobility are notable. (This also applies to churchmen, even bishops). I didn't make the rules, but that's what people do here, and it would be a shame if you lost the work. So go slower, and make sure you have the references first. The custom here is to examine new articles almost immediately, so its best to write them off-line first. Best wishes with them all. DGG 04:12, 22 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Response
Thank you for your kind, and sage pieces of advice. The problem with Wikipedia is that one has to largely find articles, or references online, that may be available merely in book form. I know a lot about the Ximenes family genealogical roots, but short of lugging around Cockayne with me and double-checking if that's where I read it, etc. it will be difficult to substantiate them, entirely, with verifiable data.
In the case of the semi-challenged, General Sir David Ximenes, for example, or similar, I really feel that is a judgement call on the part of the User, as to whether he or she believes they are noteworthy perhaps in ways others do not.
For me, Wikipedia is there to reference everything found on this earth, even if it's one perhaps terse line noting dates, and background. A personage who actually ruled over a swath of land, FOR ME, is more important and relevant than many of the "vanity" entries I noticed were on the Ximenes page, earlier. Sadly, not too much is known about some of the more distant historical figures, else I would have already added them (but one can always search and search!).
However, as mentioned, your advice is definitely going to be followed by me, especially as I acquaint myself more with Wikipedia. Note, I have a degree in history from Oxford University, but as they say, that and a dollar will get you a cup of coffee (on Wikipedia!). Thanks again, DGG. jaximenes 07:52, 22 June (UTC)
