Jawahar Lal Nehru Medical College, Ajmer is a medical college located in Ajmer, Rajasthan, India. It was established in 1965. There are 100 seats approved for MBBS and 51 seats for postgraduate course.
In Rajasthan there are six medical colleges; the admission is based upon premedical entrance examination. The examination is conducted by the University of Rajasthan. The entrance exam is a competitive one. Based on the ranking of the student in the entrance exam, the students are allocated into one of the six medical colleges in Rajasthan. A few seats reserved for candidates, selected through the central premedical entrance examination. In addition there are a few seats for the students coming from underprivileged communities. The duration of the course is four and one half years of training plus a year of compulsory internship. After the successful completion of the training and internship the M.B.B.S. degree certificate is awarded by the University of Rajasthan. Along with other government medical colleges in Rajasthan; Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital is affiliated with Rajasthan University. Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College and Hospital is located in Ajmer. The current principal is Dr. S.R. Mittal, MD who is a cardiologist by training.
