Javier Andres Weyler (born 3 July 1975 in Buenos Aires, Argentina) is the drummer for the Welsh based rock group Stereophonics.
Javier was born in Argentina but lived most of his life in Caracas, Venezuela. He was given his first drum kit at thirteen and by seventeen was playing professionally with his band Claroscuro, releasing an EP and two albums with them. He moved to London to study Audio Engineering at the SAE Institute in 2000. He then went onto work in several recording studios as an Audio Engineer/Session Drummer, it was at one recording studio that he met Stereophonics whilst they were recording their fourth studio album for which he played percussion.
In April 2004 Javier assisted in recording demos for Stereophonics' next studio album, later on that year Kelly Jones and Richard Jones wrote to Javier inviting him to drum permanently with the band. Javier accepted the offer and met up with the rest of the band to make Stereophonics' fifth studio album Language.Sex.Violence.Other?.
Javier played to his largest audience on July 2, 2005 as the group appeared at the Live 8 concert, in Hyde Park, London.
Javier has recorded a solo album, Lagrima, under the persona Capitan Melao. The album was released on April 2, 2007. He describes it as having "dreamy and poetic" lyrics and Latin rhythms.
