Re: CSD C1

Hello. WP:CSD#C1 and WP:CSD#C3 are separate criterion. That is, some categories can fall under one, the other, both, or neither. C1 requires that a category must be empty for four days before being deleted. C3 deals with categories that have been emptied from a no-longer-used template. Basically, if you're going to create category pages, it's best to find at least one item to go into them. Or, if you can't, put a note at the top explaining that the category may be empty for a while.

On an unrelated note, using categories for this particular task seems awfully silly and probably should be avoided entirely. But that's neither here nor there. Cheers. --MZMcBride (talk) 19:53, 21 April 2008 (UTC)

reqphoto

Hi Jauerback. One of my goals is to phase out the use of reqphoto on U.S. state articles. This will help reduce banner clutter on these pages. If you look at the bottom of Template:WikiProject_Illinois, you will see the recommended base string {{WikiProject Illinois|class=|importance=|imageneeded=|in=|nested=|unref=}}. This should be posted on the talk pages of the articles listed at Category:Wikipedia requested photographs in Illinois and the reqphoto banner then should be removed. For example, in stead of Talk:Caledonia, Illinois having the two banners {{WikiProject Illinois |class=Stub |importance=Mid}} and {{reqphoto|in=Boone County, Illinois}}, the single string {{WikiProject Illinois|class=Stub|importance=Mid|imageneeded=yes|in=Boone County, Illinois|nested=|unref=}} would convey the same information and banner clutter would be reduced. I'll take a look at Wikipedia:WikiProject Photography. Thanks. GregManninLB (talk) 13:50, 17 April 2008 (UTC)

My reply.
Since WikiProject Illinois is a parent project of WikiProject Chicago, WikiProject Illinois's banner should display and categorize the photo request and WikiProject Chicago template should be changed to only categorize the photo request as needed by WikiProject Chicago. For now, I don't see any problem with using both templates to the fullest. GregManninLB (talk) 14:18, 18 April 2008 (UTC
My reply.
The county sorts do not have all Illinois articles in one category. Category:Illinois articles needing images is how the WikiProject keeps track of all articles within its scope that need images. I explained it here. GregManninLB (talk) 14:28, 18 April 2008 (UTC)

Hi Jauerback. I haven't given up on the U.S. request photo scheme. At the moment, I'm looking into categories, how WikiProjects use categories, and how the code works for the WikiProject templates. Once I get a better handle on all that, I'll continue implementing the U.S. request photo scheme. GregManninLB (talk) 14:01, 27 April 2008 (UTC)

Very Hard Choices

While I don't agree with the policy, it specifically backs up your suggestion that it be deleted, and I'm a grown up. (most days, at least) I'll wait until the book is out to add the article. CatherS (talk) 10:59, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Stephania Bell Deletion

I don't know where to post a discussion on a deleted entry, so I'm going to try here. You deleted the Stephania_Bell page. Before you said she wasn't important. But there's been a material change to highlight her prominence and it was added to the entry (a new reference). How do I re-open the discussion to not delete the entry based on new facts/references that have emerged? thanks. FantasyHistory (talk) 12:52, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Dahl

Nice job of bulking up the Steve Dahl article. I'm still not sure where that big quote should go. Very busy at work lately, so not much time for Wiki. :-( Nobody of Consequence (talk) 22:44, 28 April 2008 (UTC)

Conclusion: Image placeholders centralized discussion

Hi. I'm sending this to you because you participated in the Centralized discussion on image placeholders that ended on 23 April.

That discussion must produce a conclusion.

We originally asked "Should the addition of this box [example right] be allowed? Does the placeholder system and graphic image need to be improved to satisfy policies and guidelines for inclusion? Is it appropriate to some kinds of biographies, but not to others?" (See introduction).

Conclusions to centralized discussions are either marked as 'policy', 'guideline', 'endorsed', 'rejected', 'no consensus', or 'no change' etc. We should now decide for this discussion.

Please read and approve or disapprove the section here: Conclusion --Kleinzach (talk) 11:28, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

Please note this message conforms to WP:CANVASSING and has not been sent to anyone has not already participated in the centralized discussion.

Hey, remember me

It's been too long. I'm glad to see you finally stopped acting like a jackass to me. I have been vindicated. You were wrong to ban me until March of this year. ORYZ was the vandal and it was proven to be so. My Godfather edits were correct and I'm glad to see that he gave up his vandalism. I have been exonerated. He is the vandal. I am not.

Feel free to reply to this. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.32.231.244 (talk) 13:19, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. If you do not want to be on the list, either remove your name or just disregard this message and your entry will be removed within 48 hours. The table can be found at User:Useight/Highly Active, as it has yet to have been moved into the Wikipedia namespace. Thank you for your help. Useight (talk) 04:52, 4 May 2008 (UTC)

False Information Posted on the Monica Lin Brown Article

In reference to your revision http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Monica_Lin_Brown&diff=210429225&oldid=210416307 by where you reinstated false information, the source which this information is cited is from the Washington Post http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2008/04/30/AR2008043003415.html If you read the article, there is no where which it states she was pulled back because she is a female. There is no official military response or reasoning to why she was removed from the fight because of the reason of being a female. Please read the article, I do not wish the post the entire article verbatim on your page but to prove my point I will. Please do not revert the falsified information without looking at the source, thank you. -Signaleer (talk) 21:47, 6 May 2008 (UTC)

WikiProject Graphics - New!

Inspired by your request to discuss and the actual discussion, I created WikiProject Graphics in hopes of finally getting a handle on all this. If you would be so kind, please consider listing your name on the project (so they don't delete it as having only one member). Thanks! GregManninLB (talk) 22:47, 9 May 2008 (UTC)

Hi. I see I made an error... I will ask the deleting admin to restore it. I do not know if it is notable or not, but I think most high schools get improved at AfD, and can normally be shown to be notable. I think AFD is a better way to handle this particular article than prod. Thanks for the reply. Jerry talk ¤ count/logs 03:06, 13 May 2008 (UTC)

WP:HAU

Hello again. The Highly Active Users project has gone through a complete revamping per popular demand. We believe this new format will make it easier for new editors to find assistance. However, with the new format, I must again ask you to verify your information on this page. I attempted to translate the data from the old version to the new, but with the extensive changes, I may have made some errors. Thanks again. Useight (talk) 03:58, 16 May 2008 (UTC)

Steve Dahl peer review

I've listed Steve Dahl at Peer Review to get feedback on how we can improve it to FA status. If you'd like, head over to Talk:Steve Dahl and click the link at the top. Hopefully, eventually, we'll get some good feedback. The actual FA process is fairly heavy and will probably give us yet more work to do, but I think we're close with this article. Terminator 2: Judgment Day

In Terminator 2: Judgment Day there is the first chase scene where T-1000 with a truck chasing John Connor. John Connor is trying to escape with a motorcycle. Eventually Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) saved John from T-1000. In this chasing phrase, there is a scene where Terminator (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is jumping with his motorcycle (it was a very dangerous jump scene). My question is that whether this jump scene was actually done by Arnold Schwarzenegger himself, or by some stunt man? Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 11:40, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

Could you do me a favor?

I'm not sure if they fall under any established speedy-deletion categories, but 209.250.180.247 has been creating talk pages for about a half-dozen images and the only content is a short personal commentary on the image. I'm not sure if they are deletable (I'm familiar with the CSD, but not that familiar...), but imho they take up needless server space, etc. If you think deleting them is ok, I'd appreciate it if you would.
