Jaunpur district is one of the districts of Uttar Pradesh state of India, with Jaunpur town as the district headquarters. Jaunpur district is a part of Varanasi division.
Jaunpur is one of the largest district of Uttar Pradesh with third largest in population Jaunpur is one of the largest district of Uttar Pradesh with third largest in population. There are many places of historical importance in Jaunpur viz. Atala Masjid (known for the fusion of Hindu and Islamic architectural style), Jami Masjid, Shahi Quila and Shahi Bridge (built by one of Akbar's Wazir).
