Hello. Please notice this difference:
- In some situations it is convenient to express the statistical significance as 1-α.
- In some situations it is convenient to express the statistical significance as 1 − α.
The second version uses a proper minus sign rather than a stubby little hyphen, and puts spaces before and after it, and makes them non-breakable (i.e. no line-break can appear there if you alter your browser window's size or shape).
