[edit] Autobiography

It looks to me like you wrote High-C about yourself. We strongly discourage people from doing this, for reasons given at WP:AUTO. Note that articles are expected to be supported by information from reliable sources, which your article did not have. Friday (talk) 00:28, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

Not that it matters what you strongly discourage or not. How am I not a reliable source? If you want to know more, go to Google Groups or something. Jason Gortician 01:01, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

If you read the page on reliable sources, I think you'd easily understand why you talking about yourself is not considered a reliable source. Friday (talk) 00:35, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
So you're saying someone knows more about me than I do? Who would that be? Jason Gortician 00:36, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
Nope, I'm not saying that. I'm saying you should read the page on reliable sources, and maybe some of the other pages in the welcome message you were left. This is an encyclopedia, so we use sources. Just because anyone can edit doesn't mean anyone can write whatever they want. Don't worry tho - it always takes time for new people to understand what we do here. And don't be offended by deletion, millions of other people who've written articles on themselves have had them deleted before. Friday (talk) 00:38, 6 April 2006 (UTC)
So Wikipedia is just another petty fiefdom on the web. And why aren't you deleting the other nerdcore artists who don't meet your criteria for musicians? Silly me, I thought musicians were people who made music, not people signed to labels. Jason Gortician 00:56, 6 April 2006 (UTC)

yeah dude i feel your pain, this friday guy is ridiculous. so is YT. together no one can overcome their obnoxious deletionism! i hope it makes them feel good about themselves because it sure doesn't help anything. Perle 15:07, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

Jason, let's set up an external site/page not on wikipedia of links to nerdcore artists to avoid these irritating people. I have a server with some pagerank power we can do it on. Leave a msg on my talk page with your email or IM and i will get it touch with you. Perle 15:33, 7 April 2006 (UTC)

for clarification, because you all seem to have something against me, i won't be editing the artist section anymore. i can completely understand how it could be misconstrued as bias, and i will offer up my own site to promote other artists in the genre without prejudice. i wasn't deleting people because i had anything against them. bottom line - i won't be making edits anymore to the artists on the page. [edit] Freemasonry

You are in danger of violating the three-revert rule on a page. Please cease further reverts or you may be blocked from further editing. Ardenn 05:20, 9 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:CIVIL

Here at Wikipedia, we expect editors to be civil to each other. Your comment here was not very nice. Please don't do that. Friday (talk) 21:48, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

  • You, Friday, are being exceedingly tedious. I provided two indy releases. I meet the criteria for inclusion in more than one way. Imbalance Records Founder Brian Magar - Guntgrutcher. I suggest you back off if you don't like it. Jason Gortician 21:53, 12 April 2006 (UTC)
  • Calling someone a "cocksucker" is a violation of WP:NPA, and it can get you blocked. Don't do it, ne? -Colin Kimbrell 22:42, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Re: High-C

I posted another update on the AfD page for High-C, but here's the gist of it: From all appearances, Imbalance Records appears to be a small DIY label, falling below the criteria specified in WP:MUSIC. How many copies of your tapes/records/CDs were released, anyway? --Elkman - (talk) 23:01, 12 April 2006 (UTC)

  • DIY |= Indy, somehow? I'm not sure how many copies of each were released. I do recall several reviews at the time, but they've long since fallen off of Google. You could always contact the person who ran the label, if that would matter to you. Jason Gortician 01:48, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] What's the deal?

Not sure why you've been so hostile - you seem to think I have something against music. This isn't true at all; I'm an independant musician myself. However, I'm also a firm believer in verifiability, and there's none in your article.

No, I provided two indy releases I appeared on in 1998, and 2000, as well as other facets of what I do that also make me note-worthy. As I also said, my metal band was very influential, and as an alter ego of that band member, High-C qualifies as well. Jason Gortician 01:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I don't think I was hasty with the Afd- my prod was removed without comment almost a week ago.

That was an entirely different article. Sorry I broke protocol by not commenting, but the Wiki said I could remove it, so I did. Jason Gortician 01:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

The article has had time to cite sources, but instead all we get is you hyping yourself.

Again, untrue. I provided two indy releases.

We strongly discourage people from making vanity articles about themselves for exactly that reason. If you're an important musician, show us your coverage in important music media. You don't need to be on the cover of Rolling Stone to pass WP:MUSIC, but you've got to be verifiable to be in the encyclopedia. Don't take it personally - for all I know your music is the greatest in the world. It's not about judging the music, it's about judging what should or shouldn't be included in an encyclopedia. Friday (talk) 00:34, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

The article was entirely re-written, with the help of other, more experienced Wikipedians. Citations were provided. Instead, the goalposts are now moved. "That label isn't big enough to count." But the bottom line, Friday, I that I was writing, recording and performing very geeky raps since 1995. My lineage is well-documented in the hip-hop newsgroups. You're doing the same thing to other nerdcore artists, even though they too have qualifying criteria. What, exactly, do you want "verified"? Basically, what you're saying is that unless I have two releases on a big indy label, I'll never be in Wikipedia? I'm know around the world under various personae. Who are you, again, other than some editor with a hardon for policing the nerdcore page, the very epitome of which lies with self-recorded and self-released music? Jason Gortician 01:46, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

I have very patiently tried to explain verifiability to you many times. You show no indication of having even read the page. If you're not interested in understanding what we do here, I suggest you move on. Nobody's keeping you from hyping yourself on your own personal websites, and if self-promotion is what you're after, Wikipedia is not the place for it. Friday (talk) 04:18, 13 April 2006 (UTC)

Translation? {Whine}. I provided verifiability, in more than one way. Your opinion means nothing to me, Friday. Jason Gortician 01:06, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] WP:CIVIL, again

You're being rude again. I realize that you're a self-admitted troll, so maybe this is fun for you, but you've got to understand, we don't do this sort of thing at Wikipedia. This is not usenet. Go to a forum or something if you want to call people names, promote yourself, or whatever else it is you're doing. Wikipedia is not the place for that sort of thing. Friday (talk) 20:35, 14 April 2006 (UTC)

I think you're being rude. I suggest you run to some authority figure if you can't hold your own in a discussion. Jason Gortician 23:31, 14 April 2006 (UTC)
You probably don't know/understand this, being new here, but being warned about NPA and such is actually an administrative step. More specifically, if there's an established pattern of personal attacks, it's the last thing that happens right before you get a "you've been temporarily blocked, have a nice day" message from an admin. I understand that you're upset about the AFD, but please remain civil, because a block isn't going to make things any easier for you. -Colin Kimbrell 03:03, 15 April 2006 (UTC)
So you're saying I have to accept snide remarks, but I can't respond? On my talk page? Get off of my nuts, please. Jason Gortician 04:16, 15 April 2006 (UTC)

[edit] High-C article

Saving the High-C article contents in front of its pending execution by the Deletionists.

[edit] Background

High-C was one of the first nerdcore hip-hop artists, and now is one-half of the duo Meter versus Yard. He released his first track "Godzilla" in 1995. Recorded on an Amiga 500, the track was too avant-garde for producer Chris Clay of Digitrax Studios.

Technology figures prominently into his lyrical themes, as well as literary allusions and serial killers.

In addition to his releases on Imbalance, he has collaborated with Australia's The Fucking Pigs, TINC Project and guitarist Kid Charlemagne. There have also been remixes by Shapethrower and Lode Runner, and Moss_ contributed synthstrings to "Stars In My Pocket Like Grains Of Sand".

[edit] Sample Lyrics

Many of his lyrics come directly from 'keystyle' text battles on Usenet. One notable verse from a battle with Spinsane is as follows:

I crack a little sneer at your common cocktail banter
Two steps to the left, cuz I'm deft as Eddie Cantor
I bring a compendium obscure, straight from Loompanics
Epiphanic revelations shed light among the frantic
You can flip a few words, but that don't make you famous
I'll rip a full strip and trip, you'll get raped like Tori Amos
You're the weakest link, in this mind meld
Hand you a red shirt, and you get cancelled like Seinfeld
From the mixed-up files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankweiler
I'm a wind in the door, inspired Divine Styler
This is The Crucible, it's irreducible
You think you're better, but the feeling is mutual
Can't stop for death, so you're along for the ride
Girl, I heard a fly buzz when you died
I throw aside the seventh veil, your artifice of superficiality
This carriage holds but just ourselves, and immortality
In my stately pleasure dome decree
You fall flat in the face of an educated MC
Iron Man on a thing called horse
I'll carve my name in your fly-blown corpse
No Sleep 'til Hammersmith
I'll spit mad shit, straight from Zoogz Rift
So go decipher, I'll play the sniper
Come again, but not so hyper
A homeopathic dose of my Vogonic poetry
And when I flow it, B, the motherfuckers all know it's me
I gotta give a thumbs-down to your third-rate horror
Blood-sucking freak? I'm a fucking skull-borer
From Beyond, I'll chew out your pineal
And once again, the effort is minimal
Armchair critique? I'll do you one better
Here's a bill, go find you an editor
I got Nietzschian styles
You try but you Kant
My stanzas bonanzas cause your Pavlovian pant
I electrify like Nicola, and you're a half-baked Edison
High-C pulls the plug on your fucking bad medicine

[edit] Blocked

I have blocked you indefinitely for having made no useful contributions to the project. You appear to be here to push an anti-Masonic point of view and to promote yourself. That's not what we do here. The biggest determining factor, though, is your own admission of being a troll and of trolling wikipedia, see [1]] and [2]. Friday (talk) 16:17, 16 April 2006 (UTC)

BTW, in case this block is controversial at all, any admin who disagrees can feel free to reduce or remove the block if they feel it's appropriate. Friday (talk) 23:21, 16 April 2006 (UTC)
