[edit] Former U.S. Marine

I realize that the Marine credo is "once a Marine, always a Marine." But common usage is that people who no longer serve in the Marines are "ex-Marines." If we are to describe Mr. Thomas as a U.S. Marine, we have to do the same to all former active duty Marines in Wikipedia. Gene Hackman and Steve McQueen come to mind, and there are doubtless dozens of others. No disrespect to Mr. Thomas or the Marines, but I think we need to keep the usage uniform.--Mantanmoreland 18:34, 11 May 2007 (UTC)
