Talk:Jason Beam
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Admins could we please:
- give Jason a day or two to try and demonstrate his notability
- give the article an AfD discussion if you don't think he is notable.

[edit] Spam on Jason Beam
- Transferred from user talk:RHaworth
A little over one month ago, the page Jason Beam was deleted for "Article reads like a magazine article and a cv. There are a few minor claims of notability, but given no references, are impossible to verify. Fails WP:BIO" I hadn't logged in in a while and was unable to dispute the removal within the stated timeframe, so I reposted the page and streamlined the content in an effort to satisfy the other admin's comments. I now see the page has been removed again and protected by yourself - and I am curious to why it continues to be removed, and would like to take the necessary steps in correcting the listing for publication. In researching other pages of similar artists in the "dark art" genre, such as Mike Bohatch, I find that his particular page reads as a promotional advertisement - and even includes various links to several online stores to purchase product. In previous versions, I have cited sources such as art galleries and museums, and kept commerical listings to a minimum to avoid the appearance of spam - but it doesn't appear that it helped, and using other artists' pages as reference contradicts the reasons why this page was deleted. Any suggestions would be appreciated, I would like to create an accurate entry for this page. Thank you --Clean391 16:55, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
- As far as spamminess goes, there is little to chose between this article (at its worst) and Mike Bohatch. If the latter offends you, you can always edit out some of the spam or even send it to AfD. One thing I note is that Mike has consistently edited as Sybrexx whereas I would like an honest answer to: "what is the relationship between Jason Beam, Acaciaavenue, Dragway and Clean391"?
- I have restored the article. Note that there are longer versions in the history that you may wish to use. The most important thing you need to add is what I call third-party references, ie. independant reviews of your work. Has the Montana Standard noticed you? What does the catalogue of the Centre Jeanne d'Arc say about you? I shall try and remember to come back next week and if there are no decent refs, I shall send you to AfD. -- RHaworth 18:02, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
The Mike Bohatch page doesn't offend - I just wanted to use it as a reference to build the page to make sure I am including relevant materials. If his page meets acceptability, I have no problems with it at all. I'll find reference materials and try to organize some third party information and repost. And to answer your other question, I am Jason Beam as Acaciaavenue and Clean391. I haven't logged in as Acaciaavenue because it appeared that I was spamming the entry (I was editing), so I created another account. I do not know who Dragway is. The Centre Jeanne d'Arc doesn't appear to have any online presence, and any MSU references I had are long since gone, as I have not instructed for several years. I will post soon. - OK, you appear to have a static IP address but we still prefer you to log in before editing. Thank you for your honesty over Acaciaavenue and Clean391. But that does leave me very puzzled if you deny being Dragway. Where did Clean391 get the text from, when creating the article on Jan 18? Presumably off your hard disk. So had Dragway stored another copy on another hard disk when they created the article for you on Jan 10? It is not important - just very puzzling!
- Centre Jeanne d'Arc is here but it don't seem to mention you. Good luck with improving the article. -- RHaworth 23:42, 24 January 2007 (UTC)
Actually, I was able to get the text from Answers.com (I think) which still had an active copy of the Wiki article. One of my co-workers actually pointed out that my article was gone from Wiki a few weeks ago, and I asked him if he was Dragway, and he said that was his account name, but he only signed up to edit my page - so that probably answers that question. I visited the Jeanne d'Arc site and it doesn't appear that there is any text regarding the collection of Joan of Arc artwork they have - so I will attempt to translate an email to them.
I found a variety of references, but I'd like to make sure they are appropriate before posting. I have information/links to galleries I have displayed at, although only 3 still have records of me showing there. I have pulled 10 recent magazine appearances and interviews, all with active links to the issues I am in. As an illustrator, my work is more apt to be casually discussed or interviewed, rather than commented on by art critics - most likely due to my commercial approach with my work. I also have links to several higher-profile clients that would be recognized in their respective genres, most with links to the projects I have worked on, as well as two independent professional reviews specifically regarding the artwork I had created for a client.
If these seem appropriate, I will post them. If you think they do not fit the criteria, we'll move on. I appreciate your feedback. Thanks!--Clean391 17:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
