Jasrotia

Jasrotia is the name of a branch of the Kachwaha clan of Surya Vanshi rajputs. Jasrotia's are sub clans of Sangotre/Jamwals (natives of Jammu province of j&k). They have migrated from Rajesthan at the time of Aurang Jeb to Jungle. Where they can re-unite and attack Mungal Empreor Aurang Jeb. Jasrota was their capital, which is situated about 45 km before Jammu city. And then they migrated to different parts of India (i.e. Harrot in Himachal, Pathankot and to Delhi). Pita Ram Jasrotia was the first King of Village Harrot. Who had five son & four daughters. Harnam Singh Jasrotia was the elder one and Kartar Singh Jasrotia was the second in order. Raja Dhan Singh (younger brother of Raja of Jammu) was its founder. In the year 1586 Mughal army led by Raja Bhagawant Das of Amber attacked Kashmir. One Ramchandra cousin of Bhagawant Das was also with him. After winning the battle Ramchandra was appointed to administer some areas of this region. Ramchandra founded the city of Jammu and named it after his Kuldevi, Jamwa Mata. Jamwa Mata is still regarded Kuldevi of Kachawa Rajputs. 11th century temple of this goddess is situated at Jamwa Ramgarh near Jaipur. The name Jammu and Jamwal comes from Jamwa Mata.
