Jason McGill (born 1965) is the Managing Director of York City, an English football club founded in 1922 based in York.

McGill is a former footballer, having played for then non-league side Wycombe Wanderers whilst at university in London.[1]

McGill is Managing Director of York City. His role at the club is to co-ordinate the Board and ensure its business strategy is implemented.[2]

McGill was heavily involved in negotiating the deal for York City to gain full control of Bootham Crescent, after the club bought 75% of the shares of Bootham Crescent Holdings in June 2004.[3][4] He also secured sponsorship from Nestlé Rowntree for Bootham Crescent in January 2005, which saw the ground renamed KitKat Crescent.[5]

The York City Supporters' Trust voted by three to one to accept a takeover offer made by McGill at a meeting on 6 June 2006. His company J M Packaging offered to invest a substantial sum into the club, in return for a majority shareholding.[6] He now owns 75% of the club, this involves him making a £1m investment. However, he will receive £500k back from the club as part of the deal, at the same time as potentially profiting from the sale of Bootham Crescent as and when it occurs. This means that the regular claims he is making a £1m investment is possibly wrong. It is only approximately £500k in the long term.

His sister Sophie is on the Board of York City as Communications Director.

He is also Managing Director of J M Packaging Ltd based in Malton.
