Jason Heyward

Jason Heyward (born August 9, 1989) is a 6 ft 4 in (1.93 m), 220-pound outfielder for the Atlanta Braves. He was selected 14th overall by Atlanta in the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft, and signed a deal worth $1.7 million ($170,000 more than MLB's slot recommendation of $1.53 million, and the same as the 2006 14th-slot amount that the Toronto Blue Jays gave Travis Snider)[1] on August 12, 2007.[2]

Heyward was an AFLAC All-American prep first baseman for Henry County High School in McDonough, Georgia.[3] He was ranked as the Braves' second-best prospect entering the 2008 season by Baseball America[4], being listed by the publication as the organization's best power hitter and having the best strike-zone discipline in the system. Heyward may switch from the outfield to first base if the Atlanta Braves cannot re-sign Mark Teixeira after the 2008 season. [5]

Heyward is represented by Career Sports & Entertainment, the same sports agency that represents Braves RF Jeff Francoeur and P John Smoltz.
