Jason Gram (born 27 April 1984) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League.

[edit] Overview

Gram was recruited to the Brisbane Lions in the 2001 AFL Draft as a late first-round selection and finally made his debut during the 2003 season. Gram's nickname is 'Grammy', although some fans call out 'Oscar'. Finding it difficult to earn a regular game in the dominant Brisbane Lions side at the time, Gram moved to his home state of Victoria to play for the St Kilda Football Club. He made a promising debut for the Saints in 2004(midway through the season), but injury kept him out for extended periods. Another interrupted season in 2005 followed, but he showed signs of what was to come with a 20 disposal performance in Round 22 against his old club, Brisbane.

In 2006 Gram finally cemented his spot in the side playing every match in a running half-back line. Showing dash and creativity, his fast rebounding style of play placed him #1 in the league for running bounces. He averaged 20 disposals a game and kicked 10 goals for the 2006 season from the backline, including 4 in a career and season-best performance in Rd 17 against Richmond. At the end of the 2006 season he was widely regarded as one of the year's most improved players, and unlucky to miss All-Australian selection. He finished second in St Kilda's 2006 Best & Fairest, and at the conclusion of the season it was announced that Gram had signed for a further two years. He accepted the #1 guernsey from the retiring Justin Peckett.

Gram enjoyed a good start to season 2007, although he played as a tall defender at St. Kilda.

At the start of 2008, Gram was instrumental in St. Kilda winning the Pre-season Cup competition the National Australia Bank Cup, being awarded the Michael Tuck Medal for best on ground for his 33-possession performance in the Final.
