Jason Asala is a writer and illustrator of comic books and novels. He currently publishes everything he writes under the publishing label "The House of Usher." His works include the Nantucket Brown Roasters comic series and the first of a trilogy called The Great Wormwood. He currently is a fifth grade teacher whom lives in Oak Creek,Wisconsin.

Poe was Asala's series about Edgar Allan Poe and a search for his lost Lenore, who he had thought was dead and buried. In it, Poe is charged by the angel Israfel to defeat twelve demons in order to find Lenore. A trade paperback of the first 6 issue mini-series is available, and back issues of the Sirius/Dog Star comic series are difficult to find.

[edit] The Great Wormwood

The Great Wormwood is his second novel and was a proposed sequel to his first "The Great Hall," about a young boy named Ichabod Wormwood. Icky (as his friends and family call him) is a normal kid going to a normal school leading a normal life until one day he stumbles upon a world he never knew existed right under his hometown in central Wisconsin: the Underworld. Here Icky finds himself in a community inhabited by goblins who live in fear of a monster known as the Hob. After being mistaken for their legendary hero, the Great Wormwood, Icky is sent on a mission to purge the Underworld of the Hob.

This book is the first of a trilogy following the adventures of Ichabod Wormwood, the second being the Fig of Justice, however, because of a lack of sales and no publishing contract, the series is on an indefinite hiatus.
