I am kind of surprised that this musician's page is marked for "speedy deletion". I would think winning several awards, touring internationally, and getting one's music included into PBS documentaries and movies would be considered worthy, but then perhaps that's what all successful musicians do.
p.s. This page does NOT meet the criteria for Speedy Deletion, which states "Wikipedia:speedy deletions is for pages that are patent nonsense or pure vandalism" since it is neither nonsense nor vandalism. It should have been flagged "Proposed deletion", if at all. Since the Notability Criterion is still in proposal stage, the point has been made that it should not be used in judgement until it becomes law.
This is not my page, so I don't care except that this seems injust. I think things should be weighed on a sliding scale. What are the positives vs. the negatives? In this case I see no negatives (slander, profanity, copyright violations, nonsense, etc.) and some positives (factual information about an artist (musician) who we could debate the importance of).
- A biography which does not assert the importance of the subject is also allowed to be speedy-deleted (A7). Obviously this one does assert the importance, so it has already been untagged for speedy deletion. Mak (talk) 15:42, 25 June 2006 (UTC)
