[edit] Re: Proposed deletion

This should not be deleted, as he is likely to become a notable NHL player in the future, much like his older brothers.67.68.60.179 23:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)

I agree with that and I think that the OHL and MJHL (Major Junior Hockey League) players should be in here we here about them all the time, they are the future of hockey none of their pages should be deleted. I think it's important to have them on here so that we can know a little bit about them before they make it or get drafted into the NHL. 74.14.200.54 14:11, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
I think whether or not OHL/MJHL players should be included here depends on their own individual notability and press coverage, since junior / minor league hockey is similar to minor league baseball. A lot of players don't make it to the major leagues. However, I think Jared Staal is a clear keep. He has received quite a lot of media coverage for a junior player already; I saw a feature on him and his brothers in the Washington Times last week, and the Times isn't known for giving generous coverage at all to hockey, much less half of their sports section's front page. (Capitals games recaps usually get a quick blurb on the front page, saying, "See page C7.") Most of the coverage was tied to him and his brothers, hence why we have a category for the Staal family. At the very least, if Jared does not end up making it to the NHL and Marc does, he would deserve a short paragraph in an article on the Staal family. --Idont Havaname (Talk) 22:49, 19 February 2007 (UTC)
