[edit] Material that does not belong here

I disagree with most of the material included in this series of edits.

The contributor who made these edits didn't seek out specific comments from US spokesmen about Jarallah al-Marri. It looks like they just made some unattributed cut and pastes of some general statements US spokesmen had made.

I think any reference to the "McCain Amendment" should either quote or paraphrase a source that comments on how the Amendment affects al-Marri, or it should be reduced to a single entry in the "See also" section.

The section deceptively entitled "U.S. Government position" is merely an unattributed, unedited copy of US spokesmen material on the CSRT procedure. It violates WP:NOT. And, if it were to be edited, to be encyclopedic, it would belong in the Combatant Status Review Tribunal article, not here.

The section entitled Denial of widespread pattern of abuse by U.S. Government refers readers to an article that is, I believe, another violation of WP:NOT. It is a complete copy of an entire US document. As such it belongs on wikisource. The section repeats the highly controversial phrase "pretrial detention" -- this shows POV.

Note, at this point in time, google searches for "Jarallah al-Marri" site:site:.mil and "Jarallah al-Marri" site:site:.gov result in zero hits. -- Geo Swan 17:52, 30 March 2006 (UTC)

An anon poster placed an unsourced comment stating Al Marri's brother was not in the consolidated naval brig, and had not been a PhD student. This is contradicted by multiple sources. So I excised it. Also, it was in the wrong place... — Geo Swan 02:01, 24 January 2007 (UTC)

[edit] STATUS

I'm under the impression that the tribunals in gitmo only declared those held as "enemy combatants" and that none have been declared "unlawful enemy combatants" as required by the legislation for tribunals. Mulp 15:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Al Marri v. Wright

The section entitled "habeas corpus" refers to a case involving Al Marri's brother, not Al Marri himself.

I removed that paragraph, adding the one real link in it to Ali Saleh Al Marri's article. Geo Swan (talk) 17:23, 13 December 2007 (UTC)
