Should this article be categorized in Category:Japanese names? At this point, the category seems to include only family names. -- Rick Block 03:31, 25 Mar 2005 (UTC)

  • There's a lot of overlap. Why not put them together? The title "Japanese names" is broad enough to include both. Fg2 07:41, Mar 25, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Increase kanji

There should be more kanji. E.g., this sentence needs some: Chūetsu, part of Niigata Prefecture and location of the 2004 Chuetsu Earthquake: its name incorporates a kanji from Echigo Province (as do many other place names in the region).

Indeed, I'd put kanji on almost every Japanese word... --jidanni
