Japanese destroyer Ayanami

Three naval vessels of Japan have been named Ayanami (綾波), meaning "Wave Patterns", "Weave Wave", (Waves whose beauty suggests figures woven in silk).[1]
- Japanese destroyer Ayanami (1909) was an Asakaze-class destroyer in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was launched in 1909, converted first to a minesweeper in 1924, then to a tugboat in 1930. She was finally scrapped in 1933.
- Japanese destroyer Ayanami (1929) was a Type II Fubuki-class destroyer in the Imperial Japanese Navy. She was launched in 1929 and sunk in 1942.
- Japanese destroyer Ayanami (DD-103) was the lead ship of her class of destroyer in the Japanese Maritime Self-Defense Force. She was launched in 1957 and decommissioned in 1986.
