Established in 1994, the Japan America Society of Greater Philadelphia (JASGP) is a non-profit association of individuals, corporations and organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region. Its aim is to bring the peoples of Japan and United States closer together in understanding, appreciation and cooperation by promoting and encouraging a better understanding of the business, cultural, social, educational and political practices and customs of Japan and the United States. Cultural, social, and educational programs organized and fostered by the JASGP provide opportunities for developing personal relationships with members of both the Japanese and American communities. Most commonly recognized among these programs is the Subaru Cherry Blossom Festival, the Philadelphia-Japan Health Sciences Dialogue, and the bi-weekly Japanese Language Conversation Club.
The JASGP is a part of NAJAS, a national non-profit U.S. network dedicated to public education about Japan consisting of approximately 40 independent Japan-related organizations located in 32 cities around the country.
