[edit] Removing notices from your Talk page

Please do not remove notices from your talk page. You are welcome to archive them by creating a Talk archive page, but the content needs to remain in some form (whether on your main talk page, or in an archive). Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to help you out with it. ···日本穣? · Talk to Nihonjoe 17:07, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Okay, I didn't know that. But, noticing things like that is totally fine, then I can do it. Don't edit this page. If you add a comment, then I decide. Janviermichelle 00:03, 18 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Template:Buddhism

Just wanted to comment to you and say that you made quite an improvement on the Buddhism Navigational template. I'm curious to know was there any particular reason that you decided to edit it when you did? Netscott 19:05, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

Sorry, I understood that... it doesn't appear as though you've ever edited a Template before and so I was just curious as to know why just now you went ahead and did so? Netscott 19:38, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
If my edit disturbs you, i'm sorry. Why edit now..... that's because I'm new to wikipedia. and I'm interested in buddhism. Janviermichelle 19:43, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
No, that's not it... hehe... sorry... editing template space usually isn't easy because actual templates aren't easy to find. Maybe that wasn't true in your case? Netscott 19:45, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
What I did is just "copy and paste" from other templates(christianity, islam, etc) and edit it for buddhism.Janviermichelle 19:47, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Well I'll stop being gamey... :-) Did you use the little view | edit | talk to find your way to those templates? Netscott 19:56, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Yes. And I don't remember how I found the template page. Janviermichelle 20:24, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
Ah ok, I just was curious because I created {{Tnavbar}} which makes
This box: view  talk  edit
on templates it's added to... and I guessed that you found your way to Template:Buddhism through that. Netscott 20:32, 27 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Edits to David Yonggi Cho

Hi, Janviermichelle. I see your edit to David Yonggi Cho has been reverted a couple times. Information about the book you mention is very difficult to track down online, so if you think the subject warrants inclusion in the article, you're best to visit the Talk page and give some more information and evidence. Cheers. David L Rattigan 11:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, this is Gigantul I saw you edited the David Yonggi Cho. The reference exists, however the book is out of print. And in fact, David Cho's affair is such a well-known fact to koreans. If you can read korean, I can find the links for the quotes from the book. Gigantul 4:15 29 May 2006 (GMT+10)

I can read hangul. If you can find the links, please let me know.. And do you know any articles in English referring this book or quoting this book? Janviermichelle 22:45, 28 May 2006 (UTC)
Go to 반기련. it's so easy. Also ask people who might have the copy of the book. I am sure there is bound to be someone who owns the book before David Cho purchased the every last copy of the book. Gigantul 15:13 29 May 2006 (GMT+10)

--Sanchaman 02:10, 1 June 2006 (UTC)

[edit] License tagging for Image:Yuldong.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yuldong.jpg. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Aptbundang.jpg

Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Aptbundang.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Hi - you're allowed to use content from the Galbijim Wiki but please indicate the source and categorize accordingly when copying verbatim as in this article. Thanks. Mithridates 15:37, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

okay, but a lot of galbijim wiki pages copy verbartim from wikipedia, e.g. Bundang. Janviermichelle 18:17, 2 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Your opinion

Hi! I'm Mr Tan.

If you are interested, perhaps you can give the Korean side of how Koreans generally view Tsushima in correspondace to their Korean naming conventions to how Koreans refer to Tsushima--then and now, which I have difficulty in explaining to my stance why content of Korean naming conventions section should not be removed (see Tsushima Island's history. After Ypacaraí removed the Korean naming conventions section on the article, I have managed to engage with Endroit to probe into the reasons.

However, the discussion has alrady come to a standstill, before the discussion could even end, the status of the application of the policies and guidelines are being doubted by me, and ignored by Endroit about my questions, and labelled a troll when I used sources which Endroit find offensive, the objective of which is to prove my point (I have no intent of offending anyone, though). Thus I find the consensus unfair and a discriminating power if we can't even settle the way if policies and guidelines are applied (see Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines. Having arrived to this stage, I approach to you for a wider and fairer audience.

Anyway, do feel free to check out at Talk:Tsushima Island, especially at the latest messages, and User Talk:Endroit has been rejecting my requests to hear his replies, evidenced from him removing my request messages I have posted at his talk page. I hope that your help could truly work out to a feasible resolution soon. Since July, I have been digging for reasons extensively to arrive at a resolution, with a bit of help previously derived from Deiaemeth. Cheers! Mr Tan 02:35, 19 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Enccer

Hi Janviermichelle, thanks for performing the merger of the above article. I have one question. You placed an AfD tag on it but did not complete the three-step nominating process. Is there a reason you would like to see this deleted? I think it would be fine to leave it as a redirect. Would you have any concerns about removing the AfD tag? Thanks. Regards, Accurizer 03:15, 20 August 2006 (UTC)

Hi, redirecting could be okay but as you know Enccer is not seoul national university. If you want to leave the enccer article there, i don't mind. I usually don't like deletionists. Thanks for commenting here. Janviermichelle 06:45, 20 August 2006 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I added the redirect. I figure at least that way, anyone looking for it will be able to find the merged information. Thanks again! Regards, Accurizer 02:29, 21 August 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Is the Shin Ji article notable?

A tag has been placed on Shin Ji, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article seems to be a biographical account about a person, group of people, or band, but it does not indicate how or why he/she/they is/are notable. If you can indicate why Shin Ji is really notable, I advise you to edit the article promptly, and also put a note on Talk:Shin Ji. Any admin should check for such edits before deleting the article. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. Please read our criteria for speedy deletion, particularly item 7 under Articles. You might also want to read our general biography criteria. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself. To contest the tagging and request that admins should wait a while for you to assert his/her/their notability, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and then immediately add such an assertion. It is also a very good idea to add citations from reliable sources to ensure that your article will be verifiable. mirageinred 21:09, 7 September 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Categorization

Hello. You don't seem to understand how the categorization system works. Articles should be in their narrowest categories and should not also be in any supercategories of those categories. For example, if an article is in Category:Buddhist philosophical concepts which is a subcategory of Category:Buddhism, it does not also need to be in Category:Buddhism. It's already in its proper subcategory. Please don't add supercategories to articles which have been properly categorized. Thanks. Ekajati (yakity-yak) 17:28, 13 October 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Kim Won-yong

Wow, so you just erase things like that, eh? Is the SNU article 'yours'? You must be pretty powerful to crush people's contributions so quickly. Why not read Kim Won-yong before getting on your high horse. Kim Won-yong is the Father of Archaeology in Korea and was one of the founding members of SNU. He is also a giant in 20th century Korean intellectual history. Who are you to decide relative important of things? Speak now! You page says you want to be inclusive! Mumun 19:00, 14 November 2006 (UTC)

I get it -- you think I am one of the vandals that you revert. Please work with me here. You do not own this article. You need a section devoted to notable faculty Mumun 20:15, 14 November 2006 (UTC)
i still don't think he's notable. if you do think then revert the article. do whatever you want. Janviermichelle 05:49, 15 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] TEPS

the article is a bit promotional ... you refer to Lyle Bachman et al. I assume, Studies in Language Testing 1 (1995), but I doubt "approval" is the right word, given the professor's theoretical inclinations - please provide the reference 125.241.245.18 06:39, 21 November 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Image tagging for Image:Yuldong.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Yuldong.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

[edit] Bundang

Hi Janviermichelle, I've copyedited some of your additions to Bundang. I know you're editing in good faith, but much of the prose was not written in the formal tone expected of an encyclopedia. Also, you used several peacock terms which are discouraged, facts should always be backed up by sources. Give me a shout if you ever need anything. Deiz talk 08:45, 7 March 2007 (UTC)

I've also proposed TEPS for deletion, as I am unsure that it meets out notability criteria. Please don't take these or any other edits personally, just following procedure. Deiz talk 09:38, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
In the absence of sources or verification, I've sent TEPS to WP:AFD. Deiz talk 01:03, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
nice job. Janviermichelle 01:16, 8 March 2007 (UTC)
  • You're never going to convince me that mentioning that taxis have call numbers is in any way encyclopedic. Of course it's true. It's not exactly something I'm going to start a revert war over, but I really think it makes the article read like a travel guide rather than an encyclopedia entry. Deiz talk 04:07, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
    • It reads like a travel guide in that sense. i agree with you. if you wrote your point when you edit the article, it would be much more convincing to me. Janviermichelle 20:15, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
      • OK. Sorry if some of my edits are a bit sharp, I do a lot of cleanup work and some of it is pretty rough-and-tumble. There is a good reason in policy / guideline / precedent for everything I do, I do sometimes need to remember that that won't be obvious to everybody... Deiz talk 23:33, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cho's sister

Janviermichelle, I would wager to say that most articles that discuss subjects mention siblings and numbers of siblings that they had, correct?

So, why would mentioning Ms. Cho would be worthless? HUH? WhisperToMe 05:07, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

Bill Gates and Neil Armstrong mention names of parents and siblings - So, why can't Cho's? WhisperToMe 05:28, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

bill gates and neil armstrong are not spree killers. don't you understand? Janviermichelle 05:29, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Straw poll

You expressed opinions on the reordering of Cho Seung-hui's name. Please vote in the straw poll on renaming him in Wikipedia here. --Dynaflow 06:45, 18 April 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Cho and Oldboy

I reverted your removal of the paragraphs mentioning the Oldboy possible connection in Cho's article. The two sources say "One of the photographs in the Virginia Tech killer's "multimedia manifesto" may have been inspired by [Oldboy]" [1] and "no one has yet confirmed that Cho saw it". [2] To repeat points that have been said in reliable published sources is not original research. If we were presenting the reader with the unqualified statement "Cho's behaviour is based on Oldboy", now that would be original research, but we're not joining conclusions from multiple sources like that, just repeating what they said. Resurgent insurgent 2007-04-24 09:09Z

[edit] about SNU category

hi. :) well my initial thought was to distinguish those who graduated from SNU and those who do not graduated from SNU but became a faculty members or got other relations with SNU. (e.g. Harry Ansted--the first president of SNU--can be a SNU people but he never graduated from the university) But lacking references and, most importantly, time to edit, it would take a time to me to do the job. --Kerilka 09:23, 2 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Dokdo naming dispute

Hey Janviermichelle, another Dokdo naming dispute has arisen, & RM has taken place. Please check archive for previous discussions & pariticipate in the vote. Thanks. I'm also going to note all others who participated in the previous poll. (Wikimachine 18:22, 21 May 2007 (UTC))

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Bundangsp1.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:Bundangsp1.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 16:00, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] St. John's Cathedral, Korea

one of only three in the world officially authorized by the Vatican. What exactly would happen if you displayed an unauthorized replica? Would the Vatican come down on your ass? Would they send those Swedish guards down to rough you up Jesus-style? I want to do it just to see what happens. I'm going to make a bobblehead Pietà and sell it at a special discount to Mexican cabbies. I'd like to see them try and stop me. What is heaven like the Franklin mint?
