Hi, Janto. I removed your alert about 205.204.242.21: this IP had already been given a one-month block today, and there's no sign of the block being evaded. I hope it hasn't spoilt your day. --Gareth Hughes 21:23, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Thanks! It was my first request for a ban. It was fun :-) --Janto 21:40, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Stellenbosch External Link

Hi Janto,

As per [1], Wikipedia is not just a mere collection of external links ... that specific link does not add any value or serve to illustrate any issue mentioned in the article and IMHO could even be considered spam. I have thus deleted it, as a previous editor also seems to have done. Kind Regards, Elf-friend 07:45, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

Also see [2], I cannot see that that link falls under any of the categories that are OK to add. Regards, Elf-friend 08:17, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

I'm mostly convinced. --Janto 13:31, 31 October 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Wiki for Engineering

Engineering Wiki is a wiki entirely dedicated to collecting information about Engineering. The Engineering Wiki is in early development stages at the moment. We invite you to help devlope this wiki.

[edit] Thanks!

I had to do some research on the shooto/shootfighting/shootwrestling. Most sources tended to mix them up, and some even gave inaccurate information. By checking a multitude of sites I was however able to separate the concepts (I think)! =] ---Marcus- 23:34, 28 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] What do you think about this

I noticed that the article about the boston crab used this image: Image. It is used purely under "fair use" apparently... so i started wondering if that same argument can be used for pictured depicting techniques related to fighting. Any ideas? ---Marcus- 17:09, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

I have no idea. If the images on Professional wrestling holds and related articles are fair use, then I see no reason why we can't do the same with real (hehehe) fighting techniques. Where can one ask? --Janto 18:35, 31 December 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Origin of name Stellenbosch

Hi Janto, Thank you for your feedback on the issue. I went and dug deeper and found that Simon van der Stel's wife was not a Bosch but Johanna Jacoba Six. I went to school at Paul Roos Gymnasium and I can remember being told the Bosch version of the story.. Sounds like Adam and Eve now. Regards Gregorydavid 08:30, 25 January 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Erwin Ballarta

I'm looking for people who might be interested in helping to improve the Erwin Ballarta article. I see that you mention MMA on your user page and made some recent improvements to Pekiti Tirsia Kali, so maybe you'd be interested. Even if you don't want to pitch in, you may find the article interesting to read. — ApolloCreed (comment) (talk) 03:10, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Why so few Wikipedians are engineers?

I am trying to understand why there are so few Wikipedians who are graduate engineers. Once I get a grasp on that, perhaps I may be able to formulate some ideas on how to attract more experienced engineers to become Wikipedians. It would be very helpful if you would respond to these a few questions:

  • Are you a university graduate engineer?
  • Please indicate in which of these engineering disciplines you obtained your degree:
    1. Aeronautical or aerospace engineering
    2. Bioengineer or biological engineering
    3. Chemical engineering
    4. Civil engineering
    5. Electrical engineering
    6. Environmental engineering
    7. Mechanical engineering
    8. Petroleum engineering
    9. Other
  • In what year did you obtain your degree?
  • What attracted you to participate in Wikipedia?

If you would rather not answer these questions on your Talk page, then you may respond on my User talk:mbeychok page. Or you may respond to me via Wikipedia's email which I have enabled on my User:mbeychok page.

If you would rather not respond at all, that's fine also. Regards, - mbeychok 04:28, 4 May 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the support on Stellenbosch University. By the way, I did Civil (March 1979) there..

I can answer the questions above later.. PS Wiki is the best colaborative mechanism I have ever come across.. Cheers Gregorydavid 11:21, 23 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Untagged image

An image you uploaded, Image:StellenboschUniversityCrest.jpg, was tagged with the {{coatofarms}} copyright tag. This tag was deleted because it does not actually specify the copyright status of the image. The image may need a more accurate copyright tag, or it may need to be deleted. If the image portrays a seal or emblem, it should be tagged as {{seal}}. If you have any questions, ask them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. -- 14:45, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Today, there was a merger of Category:Martial Artist Wikipedians into Category:Wikipedian martial artists. This resulted in a userbox {{User:TonyTheTiger/Userboxes/Martialartist}} being added to the category. This userbox is available to you. TonyTheTiger 20:39, 17 January 2007 (UTC)
