Wikipedians try to follow a strict policy of never biting new users. If you are unsure of how to do something, you are welcome to ask a more experienced user such as an administrator. One last bit of advice: please sign any dicussion comment with four tildes (~~~~). The software will automatically convert this into your signature which can be altered in the "Preferences" tab at the top of the screen. I hope I have not overwhelmed you with information. [edit] Gyn and Sheerlegs

Hi! I read the two articles that you created. Could you revisit them, and provide an introduction at the beginning of each article to expain the context of the subject matter? You are right! I am studying nautical science and looked for these terms many months ago at wikipedia. I found in a book the meanings for gyn and sheerlegs and paraphrased the paragraphs in the book. It would be more helpful to understand the articles if somebody creates a sketch or pictures as in the book I chose as reference. Unfortunately I am not a good graphic designer and I don't like to take pictures out of the book since they are probably copy righted. Janno 21:22, 26 April 2006 (UTC)

Hi, this is in response to the above and the question you posted on my talk page. I think you could revise the introduction to begin with a broad overview of what these things are. For example, you could say something like: Gyn is a wooden device similar to a pulley that was commonly used on sailing ships in the 18th century to lift elephants. (Of course, I don't know if this is true, but hopefully this will give you an idea of what is needed.)
I agree with you that pictures would be very helpful to these articles. Take a look at Wikipedia:Images, it provides some recommendations on where to find images suitable for use in Wikipedia. I notice that you listed Rigging extempore gear on Wikipedia:Deletion review. You should know that while there is nothing wrong with objecting to a deletion, you should specify why you are objecting and what reason there is that the unanimous consensus to delete the page was incorrect.
